Damn... Wii U falling behind X360 now....

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Wii U definitely needs a jumpstart. It's sales trend is brutal. Nintendo is very fortunate that they are out first and have time to react, and that this is all bonus install base sells right now. It's not inconceivable that Wii U versions of titles like AC4 or Watch_Dogs could outsell PS4 or XI versions with the much larger install base. And the existing install base will push their friends to buy the system. Wii U needs a strong July-Aug-Sep-Oct to take advantage fully of its head start.

And again, this sales trend is pretty similar to the last first-launch system, the XBox 360.

However, this lackluster start is cause for MSony to consider pushing up their probably November launches. I mean if they can come out a couple months early with a couple first party titles, that could really hamper any effort Nintendo has planned to boost Wii U prior to November.

I don't think that the PS4 and 720 are the biggest threat for the holidays. Wii U needs to start differentiating itself from the PS360, which will still be going strong and are undercutting with more games. The vast majority of people getting the PS4 and 720 at first will be upgrading from PS360, so won't give the Wii U a second look. Nintendo needs to convince people that it is worth paying a bit more to get the Wii U over PS360, and hook people into a Nintendo console upgrade cycle. The delay from Wii to Wii U lost a lot of people to Sony and Microsoft.

I agree, the inevitable counter cut for 360 and PS3 to Wii U's own inevitable price-cut is going to Nintendo's biggest concern this holiday.

To this extent, I expect Sony and MS to fully paint WiiU as a last gen system and PS4 / 720 as the ONLY next gen options.    Considering WiiU has  NO next-gen looking exclusives, it will be very hard for them to convince people otherwise.  Heck, they can't even convince people it's a next gen system now.

According to Nintendo they SOLD 3.45 million Wii U units not 3.0 million. Your graph is undertracked.

Shipped, not sold.

Welcome to VGChartz.

First thing most people have to learn is that ALL manufacturers say sold in terms of when they SHIPPED their product to retails. ALL tracking firms like VGC, NPD and others focus on when a retailer sells it to a consumer, in other words, when its actually SOLD.

Also, May 18th data up. Wii U continues downward per week. E3 better show some damn good games coming.

^ Well, I suppose they DID technically sell that many Wii Us... it's just that they sold them to retailers rather than consumers (aka shipped).

And now retailers try to get rid of it at 30% off cause they are desperate (Or is it finished already, I don't know how old this news is)
