I think that their dev capacity is more important than the IPs (Heavy Rain, Beyond). They do games that simply don't allow sequels, so it's more important to  have the guys that make these kind of games than owning the IPs.

Might be true but i'd still say that david cage is one of quantic dreams biggest assets and since sony cant really own him i see no point in buying them out.
If they just wanted dev capacity it would probably be cheaper to just expand one of their existing studios.

I cant really say anyting about the knowledge about makeing this kind of games since i haven't played haevy rain (though i might get it if i enjoy beyond) but my guess is that other studios should be able to replicat that since from what i've heard the gameplay mecanics sould't really be that challenging and motion capture is now donne by practicly every bigger studio.

I don't want to downplay the value/greatness of quantic dream to me it just seems that a lot of it is dependant on  certain people and since there is no guarantee for sony they can keep these people the question is, is it worth the money your paying for it...

Yes, Cage looks to be "the guy" there. Could be better simply wait for Beyond performance in sales/revenue and just negotiate a new exclusivity contract with Quantic Dream.

I hope you are right, Insomniac deserves to be successful. Spyro and Ratchet & Clank were truly amazing in their days.

Serious question, where would Sony get the money to buy any developer now?

I don't know what the valuation of Insomniac is at the moment but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they were worth over $100 Million; and Sony really doesn't have that kind of money in their current financial position.

agreed. i'm not sure what gamers want from them except R&C. they are looking for thier next big thing. that move that expands Insomniac, into something bigger.

i can see Insomniac becoming the next Epic games. a studio, owning other studios. Insomniac is looking to redefine themselves, so lets let them search.
