Analysis
This month, two things stood out. First, the release of many titles, including the Wii U launch, helped significantly lower the number of votes received. However, it also allowed some other titles to gain more points. Most notable is The Last of Us, which has over 10% of points alloted.
PS3
The PS3 continued to be the lead platform, with over 40% of points. In fact, it actually grew month over month by over 60 points, led by such games as The Last of Us, Grand Theft Auto V, and Ni No Kuni. In total, 6 of the top 10 games, including 3 of the top 4, were PS3 games. The Last of Us in particular was impressive, scoring better by itself than the 360 or Vita.
3DS
Without competition from Wii U launch titles, the 3DS was the other major winner of the month, scoring over 150 points, a 32 point increase over last month. The leading title was Fire Emblem: Awakening, but even that was only a fraction of the 3DS total. Other big games included first party games like Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion and 3rd party games like Bravely Default, Shin Megami Tensei, and a pair of Monster Hunters.
PC
Despite losing a few points, the PC still had one of its better month's, especially compared to the total. bioshock Infinite was the lead title, but as always, the PC relied more on a number of obscure games, like The Rabbit's Apprentice and Outlast, than any other platform. 13 PC games scored 5 or under, eventually adding up.
Wii U
With only about half as many points as last month, the Wii U was December's biggest loser. However, it still has a solid base of games granting it points. Pikmin 3 is responsible for over 30 points, but the Wii U also has games like The Wonderful 101, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Monster Hunter 3 U, and Rayman Legends. Expect the platform to do better as games are announced for it in the coming months.
360
The 360 lost over 30 points month over month, by far making it the least notable console. The most notable exclusive, Gears of War Judgement, only had 11 points, and the top 3 games make up most of the points it has. As always, the 360 is an afterthought on the VGCharter's mind.
Vita
November was a great month for the Vita. With 127 points, it reached an all-time high. However, this fortune is already reversed, as major games like Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation and Persona 4 have come out. The Vita is back to where it was in September or October. Not all is lost though. Soul Sacrifice, Tearaway, and Killzone Mercenaries all made good showings, and can grow over the upcoming months. However, if it wants to compete with the 3DS like last month again, the Vita has its work cut out for it.
