Another question. How is Shin Megami Tensei IV different than Persona 4? Aren't they the same thing. Sorry I don't really understand.

Shin Megami Tensei (or MeGaTen) is the mainline series, Persona is just a spin off of the shin megami tensei games. Generally speaking the megaten are darker and more mature than Persona, the social links doens't exists and the party consist of the -silent- protagonist and his demons, you don't get human allies.

Other than that, both game series follows the same concepts only that in Megaten Personas doesn't exists, they are called demons.

Also, Megaten games are heavy focused on aligment Law/Order, Chaos and Neutral while Persona games doesn't have that. Both games are very different, but in essence they are similar

 

OP - Yesterday I went looking for some more details about this game, I can't wait to play this and I'm 100% this will get localized. I'm so hyped!

Very doubtful. They already did an update of it on the Vita and I don't see them putting it on the 3DS as well.

They did list the Persona series when the 3DS's game list came out when it was unveiled like two E3s ago, but that may just be a placeholder. They already ported P1-P3 to the PSP and P4 to the Vita so I don't see what Persona game they'd make for the 3DS if there actually is one (and Persona 5 is likely to be a PS3/360 game). I think a new Persona series based on the Persona 5 fanart would be cool though...

Well that sucks lol  Since i'm filled with questions, what is the difference between Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden?  Do they look that different.  I've been debating if I want to play it on PS2 or wait til I get a vita when the price drops.

very little, although there was a listing for a "Persona Title" for 3DS a while back. Atlus seems pretty content keeping the Persona series PS Exclusive at the moment, I think that listing was a misprint for SMTIV.

On Topic: I was hoping they wuld go a more traditional route with the combat system, yet from those pics I can see they went the DQ approach( 1st person turn based combat)........the bain of my existance :/

Persona 4 Golden definitely looks better than PS2 version, but not dramatically. It is the same character models and environments but higher res textures and more background details added. Animations have been tweeked here and there as well. What really counts is how much extra content is embedded in Golden. I would say there is 30% more story added, tons of extra gameplay features, and added bonuses like costumes and speacial items to take advantage of. Not to mention they added sme subtle online functionality that isn't mandatory by very useful.

Wow 30% extra story.  That makes me sad.  I'm about to just ask my sister if I can borrow here vita or something.She can keep the game, i just want to play it lol
