Square Enix and DeNA are bringing social game, Final Fantasy Brigade, to the U.S. Titled Final Fantasy: Airborne Brigade, the game will be released for free on iOS and Android devices.

Final Fantasy: Airborn Brigade takes place in an ancient kingdom, responsible for guarding crystals, which is invaded by monsters. Each player rides an airship and players can form groups called airborne brigades to fight bosses together. The goal is to restore to lustre of the crystals, which have lost their radiance.

What bosses? Ifrit, Shiva, Bahamut, and Odin are all in the game. Each player gains experience and levels up as you go along, and there’s a PvP element in the game, too, where your party can fight your friends.

Square Enix say Final Fantasy: Airborne Brigade is coming “soon”. If you pre-register for the game (which you can do here), you’ll be notified by e-mail when it is released, and receive a free three-month exclusive in-game card featuring Cloud from Final Fantasy VII.

Back in May, Square Enix reported that Final Fantasy: Airborne Brigade had over 2 million subscribers. That number has now increased to 3 million. Square Enix recently released the game in Korea as well.

I like that KH Mobile art style they've got going on.

They can't make the FFVII remake that everyone wants but they can keep making this kind of crap which is killing the franchise?

I thought the main series was doing most of the franchise-killing work?

Anyway, my eyes glazed over as soon as I saw the word "social." I guess it's time to accept that I'm antisocial.

Meanwhile, VersusXIII and Lightning Returns are stacked in a drawer, collecting dust...

It's free, right? We might as well try it. I've been trying to find more fun iPhone games (not much outside of "Where's My Water" interests me), so I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Oh I'm just saying because I dont have a single iOS game on my iphone ;p

I want to get FFTactics War of the Lions on my iphone...but anything more than $9.99 on a mobile phone is too much imo.

I just realized I read the OP wrong (curse my skimming abilities). This game isn't free? How much does it cost?

Also, you should download "Where's My Water?" for iOS. You can try the free version, and the paid version is only $0.99 or $1.99 (I forgot).  - And it's a super fun puzzle physics game. =)

Wow, I think this is the first double post I've ever made. When I tried to post my comment, this thread loaded with posts in reverse order and it didn't show my post. Then I pressed "back" and then re-submitted my post. I broke something. >.>
