ive done the credits one, but HOW THE HELL DO YOU TALK TO YOUR MUM?

When you create your character you have to pick the Spacer background. Each background has a unique mission. With the Spacer background the unique mission require you to call your mom's ship.

Edit: Yeah the Virmire mission is bastard. I mean I know why they did it that way and they were setting up for it through out the whole game. I mean on my first play through, I was male Shepard so the choice fairly easy. I mean the principle of it all annoyed me but you don't really get to know the character as well.

On my second playthrough I was a female Shepard, this made that choice much more difficult. The character you don't get to know that well as a guy, opens up to you as a female Shepard. Not only that, I had grown attached to the other character as a male Shepard. So on my second playthrough it was sorta of like picking which of you friends has to die. It sucked.

Sorry for being so vague but I just don't want to spoil the game for those that haven't beaten it yet.

Yeah, Kaidan really, REALLY opens up the female Shepard a lot more. I love his quote 'Commander, are you this open with ALL the crew?' LOL ...

Even when you hit Ashley up, she's talking to her sis who says Kaidan is a cutie. Wow ... they really have all their bases covered on that.

I am amazed how different the game is if you play as a man or woman. Even that drunk Harkin makes passes at you.

Yeah Madskillz, its vastly different. I mean Kaidan flirts with the female Shepard from the beginning of the game. Its hilarious because he does it unintentionally. I nearly busted a gut laughing when Shepard, Ashley, and Kaidan over look the scenic view of the Citadel and Kaidan accidentally says he likes Shepard. Ashley says "You don't get much shore leave do you LT?"

Harkin was funny as hell. I wish they would have let female Shepard slug him. I did a lot of punching of people with the female version of Shepard. I made her the bad ass and I made my male Shepard the nice one. Funny stuff. I like how the different the fight between Liara and Kaidan is over Shepard than the fight between Ashley and Liara. Ashley is pissed as hell, and Kaidan is more calm about the situation. Of course that pretty much describes Ashley and Kaiden overall. Its the reason I chose Ashley over Liara for my first play through. I like the fiery type.

LOL ... yeah, Kaidan was killing me. And I do love Ash's fire - she's a trip.

Yeah, I wanted to cap Harkin. And yeah, I let the female Shepard a renegade. I did some kind things, but the renegade Shephard is still winning in that department.

Did you trigger the 3-way love triangle? I haven't been flirting with Liara at all. I want to choose the menage option. Have you? I usually save my game and do crazy stuff, just to see what happens. I did that on my second playthrough - I dissed Liara and went off to fight. It was rather sweet!

Maybe I am obsessed with this game, but I am truly amazed at the depth of it.

I always trigger the three way angle because it pushes back your decision on who to pick as far as possible. I still won't to know what Quarians look like without the environmental suit. I really dug Tali. I like the brainy type as much as the fiery type so although I know why you could get Tali, it was kind of disappointing. Of course as soon as she took her mask off she'd mostly likely get ill and die. The Quarians should contract the Salarians to help solve their immune deficiency.

Any ideas on ME2? I am figuring Shepard will have an Asari Commando and a Salarian STG in the group for the next game. Hell maybe you'll get Aleena. I really got a kick out of Wrex's story about her. Wrex has to be in the next game though, he was too kick ass of a character. I figure Shepard will spend a lot of time in Terminus systems and/or the Persius Veil. So Shepard is probably gonna have to bring out he heavy artillery.

Mass Effect DLC:

TBA 2008

No specifics have been released on what will be made available for Mass Effect in terms of DLC, but it was confirmed to IGN that the team was cooking something up with hopes of having it release before 2008. That didn't happen, but expect it soon. New planets, missions and (hopefully) a continuation of the fantastic story are on the way.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick
