Forums - General - My blu-ray is going bonkers!!

I need some advice or something cause my blu-ray is going bat shit crazy! One day ago in the morning, I had just woken up and heard my blu-ray turn on and open the tray. Nothing "too" unusual about it. I was thinking *hmmmm the cat might have accidentaly pressed one of the buttons on the player itself while walking on it,* but I didn't see him any where near the BR. This drew my curiosity so (at the time) I left it alone for now.

Later in the day I heard it turn on and saw it opening the disc tray again. This kinda freaked me out since the controller was sitting on the coffee table untouched. It did this several times BTW. I tried looking for answers over the net but found zlich. Fast foward a couple weeks, and its still doing it. So today I decided to play a movie (Up In Smoke). Several mintes in, and spits it out. Later it was opening the tray and closing it back constantly.

I honestly don't know what to do. I'm thinking of getting rid of it and replacing it with a ps3. I even checked to see if there were any updates; told me there weren't any updates. Its an RCA too which I think it might be the reason cause from my personal experience, I have bought RCA prdoucts before and they all crapped out on me. My family's RCA dvd player died on us, and my Lyra Jukebox's flash drive crapped out on me.

I think it's a problem with the eject button. Hopefully its just your remote that's faulty

Take the batteries out of your remote or keep it in another room and leave it for a while,

if it does it again suspect a resistor problem.

Either way it shouldn't cost much to have it fixed.

Getting a PS3 seems like a good idea too if you don't own one.

It seems your bluray have a unique problem. if all else fails, get a ps3.

you either have a ghost or it's on the way out

@ nen-suer

I actually wanted a PS3 for a while but my dad got me this blu-ray, so I really didn't need it anymore. I just took the batteries out; see what happens. *Update* It still turned itself on/on, and opened the disc tray. So yeah, its time to get rid of it.

@ zuvuyeay Its not that old actually; only 3 years or so. Like I said its RCA so to me from experience, their products aren't that good. & Its a bare bones kinda version with no extra features other than just netflix which kinda sucks since all it displays are the shows/movies I have on instant queue. I can't search or even go see other categories.
