Sorry if this is an intrusive question, but why wouldn't you just let your son use Netflix on the computer or perhaps a laptop or tablet which all most likely have better screen quality than the Wii U pad?

Larger screen maybe, but not better. The wii u pad screen is every bit as crisp as a lap top screen.

WiiU pad is only 852x480 though, but I guess that doesn't matter much for Netflix. Most stuff is 2mbps at most (in Canada anyway), not really suited for higher res.

Again...I have never seen that problem myself, so why do you deny it's a problem on your end? It shouldn't be happening, and that's a fact.

you're wasting your time bro, for obvious reasons

The only obvious things here is that the PS3 is not the full 1080p, 2K resolution, 2  HDMI Out wonder maching Sony dooped you fanboys into believeing it would be, and the FACT that a 1 year old seemingly 'inferior' 360 always displayed games in a higher resolution - that my friend is what is obvious.

Always displayed games in a higher resolution? What is this crap? Stick with the facts next time.

Ok, since you wanna dance, let’s dance! Three games chosen from my collection, (1) being the early generation title, (2) being the 3rd party title, (3) being the 1st party title. Here goes:

Playstation 3:

(1)    Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune – max 720p

(2)    Street Fighter 4 – max 720p

(3)    Resistance 3 – max 720p

Xbox 360:

(1)    Lost Odyssey – max 1080p

(2)    Halo Reach – max 1080p

(3)    Dead Space – max 1080p

And just for good measure:

Wii U

-          NintendoLand – 1080p

-          NSMB U – 1080p

-          Zombie U – 1080p

I hope that is factual enough for you.

OK, so I woke up this morning to get an early start on my gaming, because once either my wife or son gets up, which they usually do at the same time, they tend to ‘interrupt’ my gaming experience. So before long they did wake up and did interrupt my bonding session with my Wii U.

My son wanted to watch Netflix, so I quit my Mario U session and started up Toy Story 2 in Netflix and had it running on the TV. Then I proceeded to grab my laptop to go and surf the web L. But then I had an Epiphany, and thought, is it possible to let my son watch Netflix on the Wii U while I turn on my 360 and go play some more Skyrim?

Well, with the Wii U it was all made possible since, I could switch the Netflix viewing from the TV to the Wii U Gamepad. I then switched the audio receiver over to the 360 and then booted up my 360 and played on the TV while my son is oblivious to how awesome the whole experience is. I mean how cool is that, that you can actually be using two separate consoles and experiencing them at the same time? Not only that but then it's possible for my son to quit Netflix and go play Mario U while I'm in the same room playing my 360 and without interrupting my play. I think that is quite awesome.

Nintendo and the Wii U made this possible, and such is one of the many reasons I love my Wii U.

The important question is, why watch Toy Story 2 when it is clearly the weakest movie of the trilogie lol :P

But yeah, I love gamepad mode because it allows other ppl to watch TV while I play and I also usualy use it when I know I have a TV show coming up in 20min so I can play and watch whats on TV assuring me that I don't play for to long and miss my show :D

No, it's not, since none of the games you mentioned render at 1080p. They are upscaled by the console, and if you had read my comment here, you would see that any competent TV upscales the image anyway.

whatever man, you stick to your interior 720p games. I'll stick to consoles that regularly support larger TVs. Don't worry you'll get a constant stream of 1080p games on the next PS (if you're lucky).

awesome! what I also find amazing is the fact that you can play an online multiplayer game with the TV and the pad independently, a system selling point for me...

Now that's awesome. But I got one better I think. So I was also surfing the web on the Wii U looking at Amazon since I'm thinking about buying my wife a new laptop for Christmas. Then suddenly she walks in the room, so I didn't want her to see I was shopping online, so I closed the curtain on the TV (non Wii U-owners don't be perplexed) and continued shopping on the Wii U How cool is that?

Your mistake was that you could have booted up your PS3 or 360 for Netflix for your son, then kept playing on the Wii U Game Pad next to your son, I'd have to give you a sticker of fail.

PS: unless he just loves Mario that much more than you vs Skyrim :P

Cool thread, DaRev

Yep im having a wonderful time with mine. I've been playing with the Pro controller and using the gamepad as the tv screen all over my apartment. Using simple headphones to voice chat online is awesome. Miiverse is very addicting. Showing it off to the family is fun, their jaws dropped when I told them this is just the controller and the console is actually doing all the work. Its the most portable home console I have ever seen. I can take it house to house without any hassle at all. This may become my favorite home console ever.
