Forums - Nintendo - 5 Things You Shouldn't Buy on Black Friday - The Nintendo Wii

Wow. WOWOWOW. This article has actually made me very mad. A Ps3 fan mad about Wii news? Let me explain.

Have we as a country (the article is NA I believe) become so obsessed with the "new and shiny" that everything older seems obsolete? What a selfish way of thinking. What's wrong with an $89 wii? Just because it's last gen does not mean that it's not great value. I for one might pick it up!!! I was always a huge brawl fanatic at friends houses (400 hours+), but never fully completed Twilight princess, both Mario Galaxies, Metroid, and a couple other titles.

Sorry to rant but as a gamer, the writer of this story must obviously have a lot of money to blow away. Just to shove it in his face I'm going to buy my Wii and tell my friends to do the same.

Yeah don't buy it, since the WiiU came out all my wii games stopped working instantly, it won't even play a gc game anymore. Just a black screen with white letters saying "I AM OBSOLETE" on start up.

I still bought a ps2 even though I had a BC ps3 already, always nice to have a back up for a spare room.

Oh no, god forbid! A whopping $89 for a 6 year old motion controlled console that houses a huge backlog of virtual console games, 2D and 3D Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and dozens of other great games?? Madness!

Seriously, how cheap are people? It's eighty-nine-freaking-dollars! Who cares if Wii's successor is out? Doesn't negate the fact that the console has a library of 100s of games. Sure, but people have no problem spending $500 on a new HDTV or $300 on the latest Ipad..

What about the family that doesn't have $300 to spare, but wants to pick up a fun gift for the holidays? Many aren't in a stable enough financial situation (especially now) to go out and pick up the latest high-tech gadgets, but they still want to surprise their kids with a great present.

I just find the entire philosophy of the article kind of insulting.

Is there really any point to this thread other than deriving hatred towards Nintendo's tiny console? Seriously dude, just because a console is obsolete doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable. And it had some stellar games, including Xenoblade...

EDIT: My mistake guys, I thought the author was trying to give the poor little white console a hard time, but in light of reasons to buy it: It comes packed in with some of the most enjoyable motion controls (the Sport games that came originally packed with the Wii). But, I'll be trading my Wii soon anyway, I need some extra credit, once I get my stuff transferred to my Wii U, then I'll be set.

Who?
