Well, if I only had a PC I would have missed almost all of my favourite games since most Japanese Developers did not make games for the PC:

I would have missed Sony and Nintendo first party franchises, most Final Fantasy games, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, some Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid... You may have gotten most of the best US/EU Games for the PC, but you would have missed the best from Japan. Btw, I played Warcraft II and CIV 2, X-Com on the PS1... so they are not PC exclusive.

Why is expecting a 20 year lifespan insane? Production of the PS2 has just ended now in Nov 2012, so the PS2 already had a lifespan of 12 years. And that was without hard drive and digital downloads. Why should people stop buying the PS3 when it reaches the sweet price spot and you can get a quality console and most games at a very cheap price without having to search through ebay or flea markets for the games when they are no longer sold at retailers? Ok, the "Hardcore  gamer" will probably always have the latest console at home. But why shouldn't the normal gamer start with a PS3 and a cheap backlog online. The graphics have already reached a very good level and progress will not matter that much in the future.

"If I only had a Wii I would have missed almost all of my favourite games like Sony first party franchises, most Final Fantasy games, Kingdom Hearts, some Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid"

"If I only had a PC I would have missed Nintendo first party franchises, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, some Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid".

See where I'm going with this? You can't expect one machine to get ALL the games

Yeah I agree with this completely 100%

This is why the console wars annoy me the most because all three consoles has great exclusives which is why I play all three.  However if you dont like the type of games for that console then dont get it but no need in argueing that a different console is better because they may like those type of games better.

P.S. Possibly the best comment I've yet see you make :)

So... If we take your word to mean anything... You shouldn't get annoyed by people posting console graphics appreciation threads...

Because this thread OP never even mentioned any other platform other than the PS3. It didn't compare the visuals to the PC, 360 or Wii U.

So, again, you over-reacted over nothing.

I reacted due to the comments in the previous thread.  There is nothing to be jellous of.  For one I'm buying that game and for two it is not the most powerful thing I've seen so people shouldnt be saying jellous either way because I can simply say jellous for the same thing yet what I am saying about PC isn't comparable.  This was just to make a point, nothing else.  And I mentioned all consoles, if I didnt make that obvious enough I apologize but Im talking about all consoles.

It was still, like our little exchange here, completely out of topic, served no purpose in the thread other than to address your little agenda, and antagonized everyone posting on-topic for absolutely no good reason at all.

From what I'm seeing, the previous thread was about one person amazement about how visually impressive a new game looks like on the PS3. How you reacted to it speaks for itself there, and in here crystal clear.

I get what you are saying and I won't disagree with you on that as I could have probably went about it in a better way, I should have pointed it out in the first comment instead of a few comments later but I was pointing out it was using motion capture.  It is a lot like a movie in a way and if you had full control of the characters they wouldnt look as good, none the less it is still impressive.  See everybody thinks I'm bashing a game because I say this but let me ask, if it wasn't an exclusive do you think people would have made as big of a deal as they did?

Who said anything about playing and owning "only a PC"? I own PC, PS3 and 360 but I choose to play on the PC because, in my experience and opinion and as I get older, it has by far the best games and gives me an overall better experience as an entertainment device.

foodfather; and just how many people who would have any interest what so ever in Halo 4 would even consider gaming on a 7 year old 500$ PC? I have against consoles and have owned a lot of them but all these silly misconceptions about PC gaming have to end.

Guys, OT, do you agree that it's silly for certain people to assume that their console is godlike when the PC is in the room?

Some people are fans of the Wii for example, and it isn't fun when fans of another console put down that excitement just because their console is more powerful. The games are what excite us in the end, not the HW specs, right?

That idea you have about motion capture is nonsensical. Most of the movements in current gen games use motion capture.  Unlike the method used in L.A. Noire for facial animation, the one used by Quantic Dream doesn't change the polygonal aspects of the graphics at all. The console still has to push a given amount of polygons, texture quality, anti-aliasing,etc, in real time for everything you see on-screen. ¬_¬

I'd be with you if everything was a pre-rendered video being streamed during that kinf of scene, but it Quantic Dream's case, they do all their cut-scenes using real time rendering.

I think people should be entitled to praise the console/machine they favor to any degree that's reasonable. The thread that this topic counters was not only one person's opinion, but a non-inflammatory discussion. It did not require this topic nor the responses JayWood offered in there.

I think that's an assumption though. He may not have made this purely in reaction to the other thread, but it may have been something that bothered him for a long time.

People have put down other less powerful consoles in the past due to superiority of another, and I don't know how valid and reasonable that is in light of the PC's HW superiority.

And these are the comments i dont mind talking about.  I was never upset until the end of that thread last night.

And yes I do know it is real time rendering and that it is highly detailed, not what I'm trying to say.  Let me use Last of Us for example.  That game looks great on the PS3 from what we have seen, and it also appears to be non  scripted.  I find that to be more impressive due to the multiple things going on, the focus on the AI at the same time gameplay.  So much is going on all at once so your processing power will be going all over the place.  In Beyond there isn't as much going on, it is very scripted and is why you can use motion capture.  This is why in game cutscenes look better than the actual game.  Even look at Halo 4.  Halo 4 has CGI cutscenes which I'm not talking about, but it also has in game cutscenes.  These look better than the actual game because it is more focused on that than everything at once.  The thing is the PS3 has games to showcase its power already, this is just showcasing it in a different way.

how about comparing the hardware price difference...
