Im surprised by IGN score. Thought they would give it no lower than 8.5 after all their hype.

IGN can be weird like that. I remember reading a really positive preview for ZombiU a few weeks ago but in the end they gave the game a 6.3.

Yeah, one the guys there said ZombiU was like the best game for the system (even more so than NSMBU), and now they overhype this game and even though it still got a great score I expected a lot higher. Never trust IGN.

The reviewer mentioned in his ZombiU review why it felt fun at previews but dragged on in the final game.  Some mechanics are only fun for a short amount of time.

Oh dear Gamespot, after watching their review, they talk about two faults, the background in menu's, which is fair enough, they are pretty bland, but criticising the complexity of character? 0_0 Wow. I can't believe they then went further to criticise the game after that for each character being different too, total joke of a review >.>

Also loved the dig half way through too: "Let's be honest, Sony doesn't quite have enough characters to make a fighting game on its own." Total joke.

Lots of the reviews for this game highlight my problems with the system for reviewing things at the moment. "It's not quite a competitive fighter, but it's not Smash Bros."

That's the kind of commentary I'd expect if I was asking one of my friends who had played the game to describe it to me, not a paid reviewer. I want them to tell me what the game is. What it does well; what it doesn't. All of them cover this but most of them do it after spending a good while telling me what the game is not.

Additionally, I can accept criticism that if two things have been put together which traditionally haven't been, it might not work so well. Tell me why. Don't say "It ends up being adequate at both but master of neither" when you've complained that it's too much like a traditional fighting game with a steep learning curve and many moves to master. Clearly it's good at that half of the comparison -  or all that stuff you've said about it earlier is rendered completely pointless.

Minor gripes aside though, I've read/watched a good portion of reviews and the majority of them seem extremely fair & balanced. The IGN review in particular I thought was a good one. I know Colin has been a big fan of the game but he kept that all to one side and did an objective review and gave it a fitting score afterwards.

74 on meta so far, I expected higher really, but there are still tons of reviews to go.

My thoughts too.

imo, can't really be considered a good game unless it gets at least an 80+ score.

Sorry, I appreciate there will be a number of reviews marking it down for being similar to SSBB in nature, but from what I have read, there hasn't been any reviews marking it down purely for that alone.

They have marked it down for being like SSBB and being not very good (in their opinion).

If you're going to discredit the Gamespot review, at least give good reasoned out view to support your discrediting please. Your discrediting sounds as bad as the review that you are trying to discredit.

Clearly not the case, and not even the goal of the developers.
