Forums - Nintendo - The Wii U eShop Is Live and Stuffed With Games

Kotaku

The Wii U's eShop for downloading games just went live.

This thing has a lot more games in it than I'd expected.

You've got full-sized launch games, from New Super Mario Bros. Wii U to Assassin's Creed III, several indies, including Little Inferno, Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition, Nano Assault neo and Chasing Aurora.

There is a coming soon area that lists games such as Batman: Arkham City and Mass Effect 3.

You can download video streaming apps (only Netflix is available now).

There is no Virtual Console area now/yet.

There is an option to add games to a Wish List, but it's not clear if others can gift games to you.

Prices on games appear to rang from $9.99-$59.99. Some game listings, such as Assassin's Creed III's, include a warning that they can't be downloaded to the basic 8GB Wii U and require an extra hard drive.

More as we discover it.

Im loving this... Nintendo seems to be doing things impressively so far... I wonder the effect of this is with MS and SONY .. if Nintendo gets their online right it will be a HUGE system seller to the core.. now to confirm how multiplayer online is.. that is the only thing that is left to convince me to stop paying for XBL ..

Hm. I kinda like the layout. It looks clean, and easier to navigate than the 3DS eShop.

looks like a cross up between psn and xbl. Hope they take the best parts of both and leave out the few buggy bits of each. Great to see Nintendo evolving.

Jim Sterling is a fan so far: "the new eShop is an active pleasure to browse. It looks prettier than storefronts on rival machines..."

main thing is gonna be the Ram that the wiiu has over the 360 and ps3 so it will be able to cache more pages back and forth while navigating around. Should make things a whole lot more free flowing than waiting for stuff to load up on the page you are looking at the wii u can be filling it's Ram banks with the page after the current ones :)
