Forums - Nintendo - So my Gamestop isn't doing a Wii U Midnight Launch

I find it odd that they didn't get told if they were going to have a midnight launch until hours ago.

Supposely GS is strained from having 3 months of every weekend having a midnight launch and wanted to take a break......at the launch of a new console. :/

Anyone else in the same position?

I ordered from bestbuy and they're not doing a midnight launch either. I may not even pick mine up, I'm running low on money, if I spend the 350 now I'll be super broke till next week.

I do find it lame that they are not. But in my case it is for the better. I work at 9am till 11:30am on Sunday morning so If they did a midnight launch, I know I would show up and play my WiiU all night. For those wondering on the odd hours of work, I'm a karate instructor so I'm giving 3 karaté classes on Sundays, and I can't be tired for this :P

What I'll probably do, go to bed early trying to get some sleep despite the fact that I'm super excited, tomorow morning at 8 I'll pick up my WiiU, go to work and I should be able to play at by noon :D

Well, is it not weird that you have Sunday as a launch day? In most countries, it would not be legal to have shopping on Sunday, and in most places that do allow it, stores still are not allowed to open until the afternoon.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

It's because of security reasons. I talked to the two guys working at GameStop yesterday. Since there is a great demand for the system, other stores were told by some unfortunate consumers (who did not preorder the system) that they were going to be at GameStop no matter what just to see if they could get any extra systems from the shipments. And that's unlikely because I was told that they are only getting a set-amount at the store for the people who preordered. If that's the case, then those extra people would get pissed off and do things such as stealing from people.

Years ago when the PS3 released, there was violence in the area I was staying at for college. There was a gun fight outside because someone stole a new PS3 from a person's car as he got out from the midnight launch.

Now I could just be an idiot...

But I feel like there are plenty of countries where shopping on Sunday is entirely legal...

Is there something I don't know???

Have a nice day...
