IGN Wii's Preview 2008
And you thought 2007 was good...
by Mark Bozon and Matt Casamassina

January 18, 2008 - If you thought 2007 was a good year for Wii, let us introduce you to your new best friend: 2008. Hot on the heels of a super-successful December holiday, forward Wii momentum is showing no signs of slowing in the new year. In the first few months, good efforts like No More Heroes, Endless Ocean, Bully: Scholarship Edition will lead the way into a very big March, which is set to encapsulate anticipated games like SEGA Superstars Tennis, Worms: A Space Oddity, Okami, and a little fighter called Super Smash Bros. Brawl. You may have heard of it. The year will also house the release of a brand new Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and, obviously, Wii Fit, which could very well become one of the most popular efforts of the year. In addition, we expect major software announcements from third-parties, which will be adding AAA titles to Wii's roster on a fairly regular basis. Finally, don't think for a second that the Big N doesn't have several tricks up its sleeves – expect some epic revelations from the company that created Mario and Zelda.

Should be a good year! Now I just need some money...

THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO HEAR!!! 3RD PARTIES AAA SUPPORT ftw!!!

Hah, right.  I listen to those guys podcast every week on Wiik in Review, and even they make fun of the lack of AAA games for the Wii.

I think they are just being positive more than actually predicting a slew of announcements.  But hey, we'll see.

Time will tell. The Wii deserves some. I am curious to see what audience they are geared towards.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Normally I would take a pessimistic approach, but Matt C. is far from a kool-aid sipping fanboy. So if he is saying there will be some major announcements from third parties their most likely will be.

I hope I have teh time to play all those titles, 2008 the year of the Wii again?

Still no AAAA titles like the PS3 :P

Yay! I might not get the games for a while due to you-know-what.

I expect an RE game as well as some good RPGs. Also Red Steel 2 and maybe a couple other shooters.
