Forums - Politics - Ron Paul's Last Speech

http://youtu.be/q03cWio-zjk

Please watch, listen, and then discuss.  Please do not discuss before having listened.  Ron Paul is correct.  We need to again advance the cause of liberty.

This is not worth watching. I have listened to about half. Ron Paul sounds right but truly knows nothing. We need to advance peace and the new world order of one world government of peace and love.

It's really hard to determine what Paul's views really are. He campaigns on being a constitutionalist, but when you read his writings, and listen to speeches like this, he's advocating minarchism... with anarchistic language.

The fact of the matter is, Paul was good friends with both Lew Rockwell and Murray Rothbard... and I don't see how somebody of Paul's views and intellect can associate with these people and not become a full-blown anarcho-capitalist.

so, in order to comment in this thread I have to listen to an hour long speech? No wonder so many people are responding...

I listened to some of it, skimmed it. I've never been a big Ron Paul fan, I like his position on a lot of foreign policy and social issues, but not so much on his fiscal issues. I know, I'm a bit backward from most people. Entitlements do need to be cut back, but I think Ron Paul takes it too far. A lot of what he said in the speech makes sense. However, Ron Paul will mostly be remembered as being an extremist in the republican party. I think the paul legacy will come in the form of his son Rand, who I see as being president or at least vice president some day.

Your last line is all idealism with 0 follow through.

We can have a worldwide alliance of governments, but with cultural and religious differences, just one government would in no way represent everybody.

The UN is a better approach, where different heads of countries can duscuss global issues and compromise with eachother.

I will miss this man. It's a shame how the GOP treated him.

As a Cubs fan, I approve of your avatar.

Oh, and I agree, Ron Paul was their one chance to beat Obama and they chose to shun him. Serves em right that they lost the election.. If the republicans ditched the hardcore religious and neocon angle, and went back to their roots of defending the constitution and traditional conservatism, I would actually support them, and I'm sure many others would too.

After anonymous warned us of the ndaa signing last Christmas, I became a staunch supporter of liberty.

Just watched the speech again. He would've been a great president. I'm glad he has hope for the younger generations when it comes to liberties. He's great at predicting things, so I know that this has some kind of truth to it. I also support his son, who shares many of his policies, but is more of a politician and hence has better chances for presidency, although this man would've been one of the best presidents since the founders for those with true republican sentiments and those who celebrate liberty. Sooner or later we'll get a constitutionalist in office and I hope he (whomever he might be) can repair the federation, but also our international policies and better secure our individual liberties.
