Good thing they turned it down. Doesn't really make sense for the market they were aiming for.
Now they are a lot more open to the casual market so if this was offered to them today, they would probably take it.

I bet they shat their pants when Wii Sports released
Who knows where Nintendo would have been at this point without this technology?
This reminds me of when Sony turned down Kinect.
lol MS and Sony both turned down things that would have made them richer.
But im glad MS chose the gamepad as the primary input device.
This is funny, because both Sony and Nintendo turned down Kinect technology XD

Market? I believe like every other decent company MS is after money first and above all. And most money comes from the biggest possible market...everyone.
If MS had the foresight to see the sales that the wii racked up they would have taken it onboard and to hell with your market.
Kinect came onboard to address this balance but had they had the wiimote from the start they would be damn near 100m+ x360 sold. Word.
Maybe it's just my bad english, but that article seems misleading.
As far as I understand, this is all about gyroscope-based motion controls - which is the technology found in the Wii Motion Plus addon.
The normal Wii Remote uses accelerometers instead, a technology that quickly became so popular and successful for games that nowadays it's impossible to buy a smartphone or tablet without.
If Microsoft really hadn't realized the potential of that technology, that would be hilarious.
That sounds about right. M$ thinking they can do anything better than the next guy, and not willing to give respect to someone with a better idea than them. Glad they missed out on the money Wii could have made them. M$ sucks so hard!
Damn! Glad Nintendo got it instead of MS! :D
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Why would Sony turn it down when they had already tried so hard to push EyeToy? Kinect is essentially EyeToy Gen-2.
The PS-Move is great hardware, but lacks great software-marketing-timing
