I don't understand that. Why should people have to confirm that their opinion is....their opinion. If someone says blue is better than red, then it's obviously known that they're not speaking objectively, they're giving their opinion. If you give a statement that's obviously subjective, then it's pretty redundant to have to say "imo" or "i think."

But really though, my problem is really with the way he was responded to earlier in this thread. I don't have a problem with the debate honestly, no matter how silly I think it is; it's moreso his treatment in the first few pages that struck a nerve with me.

That doesn't make it any better though.

To the Nintendo fanbots who are both hyper sensitive to criticism directed toward Nintendo and praise directed toward their competitors while simultaneously showing such insensitivity toward those who disagree with you, what's wrong with you? Where does your loyalty to a giant, faceless corporation come from? Pointing out the fact that LBP has been garnering greater critical acclaim than SMB should not receive such a reaction. where did i say SMB wasnt a better game in reviews opinion? im just saying that doesnt matter now, as that game is now 30 years old and doesnt matter (to sony or nintendo) because it doesnt sell systems. the games that sell systems are the games that are coming out now, thats what i was saying.thats why i was comparing the newer games. what matters is what is coming out now. if you must know in my opinion i prefer super mario land on the snes more than LBP, i cant honestly say that that is an objective choice as my memories of super mario land are filled with nostalgia, its probably the first video game i ever played (cant remember i been playing for literally as long as i remember) and i havent played the game for over 15 years. i would have to play the game again. i cant give an objective opinion on which game is better because of that reason. i have to play mario again and only then can i give my personal opinion

I suppose that you're right but as often as certain people want to say that LBP is different than Mario, they also want to compare the two and say how it's better than Mario.  It's a case of wanting to have have your cake and eat it too.  While it's true that a 2D platformer isn't by definiton a Mario copy, it is the gold standard by which others are judged and the series that really started the platforming craze.  As much as I like the Sonic, I would be disingenous if I didn't think that Sega was trying to create their own Mario and I'm pretty sure that Sony was trying to make their own Mario with Sackboy and LBP.   

It does make LBP better in the sense that you don't necessarily have to jump things - you can sidestep them (the less you have to jump the better LBP is lol)

All jokes and PR aside, LBP is still a 2D platformer, being able to switch planes doesn't magically make it a new genre.

well the two games are 2D platformers so they can be compared easily. there is a big difference between battlefield and halo for example but people can still comapre them because they are bpth FPS games. just because two games arent like each other doenst mean you cant compare them. no one can deny what mario/nintendo did with the industry back in the 80's. sony is trying to create there own mario but in a more financial point of view, they arent making the same game. they are trying to create their own mario in the more general point of view, they are trying to create their own mascot and system seller, i dont see anything wrong with that or anything that makes LBP a clone of mario
