Forums - Gaming - "Good" games that are just boring

Im surprised that so many people think that way of Majoras Mask, for me its one of the greatest Zelda games along with Links Awakening, because they are so different from the original Zelda formula, but everyone has an opinion i guess.

For me it would be the GTA games, i have never been able to finish any of this games (and i've played all of them, but not owned them tough) The one that i was closer to beat was GTAIII but it was just too boring.

And Metal Gear Solid games too, i loved the first one, but the 2nd and 3rd i just couldn't stand them, the gameplay just felt old and slow.

There are other ones, but i think those 2 are the ones that most people think are really good games.

FreeLancer

This game was supposed to be the spiritual successor to the brilliance that was StarLancer. It wasn't a bad game but it was essentially hollow outside the main plot. You have an entire universe of places to go but they all have the same generic side quests "Go here, kill these ships, come back," "Go here, escort this ship here, come back," and the like. Tachyon: The Fringe shows how to do side-quests right whereas this game shows how to do them wrong... very wrong. The other problem with this game is travel. It takes too freaking long to get anywhere and unless you have a map of every gate in every system, you are guaranteed to be taking "the long way."

Civilization

This is probably one of the most boring games ever invented. Sitting through a game is like watching paint dry. Sure you just completed a major construction undertaking but whoop-dee-freaking-do, you could have just spent the last 4 hours of your life having fun. What exactly about these games is fun anyway? The whole experience is just one big nag session. We don't have enough roads, we don't have temples, we don't have any food! The people of IDontCareAboutYou town are starving to death, what do you do to solve it? The correct answer is not to provide more food, it's to let them die so the game will end faster.

Freelancer - I loved the main plot of this game; fantastic voice acting and music, and great suspense and final battles.  But you're right, they completely failed to make the rest of the game interesting.  There was a lot of potential here with trade routes and dangerous zones and what not -- if it had been an MMO, it might have worked a lot better, but the way it was done was a complete snorefest in between plot missions or after the plot was finished.

Civilization - This is a game that's really fun until you've figured it all out, and each successive version has added new stuff for you to figure out.  But after you've played a few games, there's not much reason to go back, and games take FOR - EV - ER (/kid from Sandlot).

Roller Coaster Tycoon....just waiting for enough money to buy a stupid information kiosk. lol

:( at people saying SimCity 3000 Unlimited, The Wind Waker and Civilization.

SCK3U is fantastic and definitely the best city simulator around (SC4 is too tedious), TWW is my favorite Zelda and I didn't really think the triforce quest was that bad (but I guess that's opinion) and as for Civilization well...

It is boring, but for some reason it's so darn addicting so I can't say anything bad about it. :P I've been tabbing in and out of CIV4BTS all night. (trying to win a Culture victory with Stalin and the Russian Empire)

Top 3 favorite games: Super Mario Galaxy, The Sims 2 (PC), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

I tend to like slower paced games, so very few games can really bore me. While I love Sim City I’ve always found The Sims to be extremely dull. Whereas in Sim City you get to create an entire city to your liking in The Sims you just guide people around everyday mundane activities… It’s the only game where everything I do constantly reminds me that I’m wasting time (instead of telling my virtual character to read a book, maybe I should go read something, etc.).

At least 62 million Wii sold by the end of 09 or my mario avatar will get sad

For me it would definitely be the Halo series....I recognize that its a good game and I don't have anything that really stands out as horrible. But I just never found it fun unless it was MP with friends (which has more to do with the friends than the game).

Other than that I would say MP8 and for the middle portions of the game I agree with Super Paper Mario.

To Each Man, Responsibility

wow a lot of people here think that zeldas pretty pointless, the wind waker and majoras mask are getting destroyed out there.
I think majoras mask was excellent and the time travel idea was a new level of exploration that helped it not just be a OoT clone, which would have been worse.
I can't say much for the wind waker though, I got bored of that game after countless hours at sea randomly sailing nowhere

@ NintendoTogepi
I think most people don't hate Wind Waker, just some parts of it. I think it was a great Zelda that introduced some important evolutionary changes to the series.
But I have to say that the sailing was driving me nuts. More precise, changing the wind direction was a chore. It was a nice idea, but when you have to spend 30 seconds and watch the same animations over and over every time you want to make a U-turn... let's say 5000 times... it's almost insulting.
The trading sequence was random and pointless. I spent hours sailing and putting those damn flower things on every stand I could find, waiting for something to happen. Disappointing, when you come from Majora's Mask, where side quests = main quest.
Other than that, a fantastic game.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

For me Mario Strikers Charged Football (boooring) or Sonic and the Secret Rings (cause it's very hard)

Wii Fit is rapidly beating PS3...

Playing now: Apollo Justice, Majora's Mask

Going to play: Little King Story

"As long as there is a Triforce, there will be a Zelda  As long as there is a prosperous kingdom, there will be an evil that wants destroy it And as long as there is an oppressive force running Hyrule, there will be a boy, in a green tunic, with a silver shield, and a magic blade, to stand against them."-The Legend of Zelda
