Forums - Gaming - "Good" games that are just boring

Hate to say it, but Super Paper Mario is my biggest disappointment for this generation so far. I was looking forward to it a lot, the 2D / 3D sounded genius - now I stopped playing after two thirds. Probably not going to finish it. It's just boring, tedious, feels slow and annoying. Mario controls like it's a flash game. I mean, I wasn't the biggest fan of the other 2 Paper Marios, but this is definitely worse. Shame.

But it boggles my mind what some of you said about Majora's Mask. It's probably my favourite game ever. You know you can slow down the timer and turn back time later? The timer is necessary for the fantastic and complex side quests. It's a completely new and unique concept, and I love it.
Granted, the overworld is a bit smaller than OoT's... but there's still lots of exploration, and you gain a whole new dimension: Time!
Well, I guess you like it or you don't, Nintendo was definitely willing to take some risks and innovate.

Same opinion here!

Majoras is IMO one of the best games ever. It may be shorter than most Zeldas, but those 4 dungeons are amongst the best Nintendo ever done.

I've got to admit, Wind Waker is at the top of my list for a game that is really good, but utterly tedious. I played it once, I think I got through it the second time, but I'm not sure.

the triforce gathering, getting teh charts translated, sailing from island to island... god.

I didn't mind teh art style, I actually liked the battle system, but the sailing... the SAILING!!! You couldn't even fall asleep or something and do something else, cause you'd get attacked by a monster or something while you were gone. It's like being put on hold while waiting for tech service or something.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

I was actually fairly disapointed with Bioshock.

I watched my roommate on his first play through, and I thought the story and atmosphere were excellent, but when it came to playing it all I found was a generic FPS. I always have issues with games I enjoy watching more then playing.

CIHYFS?

FreeLancer

This game was supposed to be the spiritual successor to the brilliance that was StarLancer.  It wasn't a bad game but it was essentially hollow outside the main plot.  You have an entire universe of places to go but they all have the same generic side quests "Go here, kill these ships, come back," "Go here, escort this ship here, come back," and the like.  Tachyon:  The Fringe shows how to do side-quests right whereas this game shows how to do them wrong... very wrong.  The other problem with this game is travel.  It takes too freaking long to get anywhere and unless you have a map of every gate in every system, you are guaranteed to be taking "the long way."

Civilization

This is probably one of the most boring games ever invented.  Sitting through a game is like watching paint dry.  Sure you just completed a major construction undertaking but whoop-dee-freaking-do, you could have just spent the last 4 hours of your life having fun.  What exactly about these games is fun anyway?  The whole experience is just one big nag session.  We don't have enough roads, we don't have temples, we don't have any food!  The people of IDontCareAboutYou town are starving to death, what do you do to solve it?  The correct answer is not to provide more food, it's to let them die so the game will end faster.

Sim City 3000. You spend hours zoning, building, balancing budgets which is a good simulation but not really that fun. Then balancing all of the systems, and doing all that crap makes the game more tedious. Its a good simulation and it does feel pretty good but God it takes a while. Destroying the city is fun though.

Nintendo fan, though i also like the PS1-era Sony

Sales Predictions (+-.5mil) at end of fiscal 2007

Wii- 23 million- Brawl will hopefully make it higher.
360-20 million- GTA IV's release date will be a big factor
PS3- 12 million- Same as 360, MGS4 also big factor

For some reason I never got bored in Wind Waker.

SPM was really boring for me too, but never the other PM games.

RCT3 It didn't have the magic the first two had. I slightly agree w/ SPM; great game, but for a Paper Mario it was dissapointing.

I still haven't finished Suped Paper Mario. I got to this part where you have to defeat these 100 guards one at a time, and after about 15 of them. I turned off the Wii in frustration. I don't know if I'll play that game ever again. I also think that all of the GTA games are boring. I played San Andreas for about five hours before I was sick of it.

 SPOILER:

The Universe implodes shortly after 25 of them, saving you the annoyance of continuting to fight the annoying bastards.

Front. Mission. 4. I loved the previous one so much! I bought part 4, played it for about an hour, told myself "This game is deep", and sat it on the shelf. I've been meaning to play it for 3 years now. Now I must admit it. The game is too boring.

I also loved Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1. I was so addicted, that I used to dream about that game. But, there was many a night where I would start to play that game, and wake up on the floor with Doritos stuck to my face!! And I wouldn't even be drunk!!! AND it would only be 8:00pm!!!
