this game is gonna be epic when people really get their head around the mechanics

Indeed. There's a lot of depth to the gameplay for sure.

I love the Drakes falling through a floor attack....hilarious..yet true!

I think 1vs1 and 2vs2 will be the most intense

The game seems best suited for FFA style battles.

well to each their own. But definitely not the majority opinion from what I have seen far. I have played all of these types of matches (1vs1 thanks to two others bugging out lol) ..much more intense and fun to me. Playing 2vs2 online with a friend is just a whole new level of fun. I had the chance to play that mode with quite a few on this forum and it was great.

but yea..to each their own. We also have other modes that we haven't gotten to see much yet so who knows.

@Aura: I don't think the intro will change to be honest BUT SuperBot have said that when they add dlc characters they will have ALL the things the initial roster has. So I take this to mean everything from a story to unlockable taunts/intro music/main menu themes/chibi partners etc etc

That was awesome! I'm not really a fan of the gameplay (any fighting games) but I'm getting regardless just for the story mode! Is there even a story mode? XD I'm not sure.

It's not really a matter of opinion, I just think that's what the mechanics of the game lend themselves well to.  A lot of characters seemed to have moves with very large hitboxes and low start up that would not be much use in 1v1 but would be well suited for multiplayer battles.  Take for instance Kratos' spear charge attack. It makes a good mobility option in FFAs where you could use it to attack an opponent who might be occupied with other things, but it would be far too slow to be useful in a 1v1 where your opponent is always focused on you.  Likewise with the bulk of Jak's attack, which are a bit too slow to use as viable projectile options in most 1v1 situations, but could be really disruptive in a 4 player matchup.  It just seems that this was really designed as a 4player game.

So it's not a matter of opinion yet you 'think' that this is suitable..well that makes a lot of sense >_>

I now see why 0_Q said what he did. Let me put it this way..I was part of this game from private beta 1. So I have played through this game throughout 3 beta's already. I am also part of a community of gamers who have been playing this game like crazy...Lot of the changes they have made from one beta to the other can be traced back to suggestions that community made. yes..I mean Gaf

It's just shows you don't know what you are talking about. I just wanted to be nice about it but now it kinda shows. Listen, the move set is VERY diverse, so are the hit boxes. Even those have been adjusted a lot throughout the betas. Heck the hitboxes in the vita demo in the 3rd beta was different to the ps3 ones for some characters because the code was different. What you just described does not back up what you said at all. Honestly, how the hell do you not even think the 1vs1 are going to be intense for this game..I have no idea. So far ALL characters have charging attack of some form. Depending on the nature of the attack it can be used against a single person OR a group of people amongs the chaos. Doesn't mean the rest of the move set disappear. Even in 2vs2 and even FFA, there have been some real epic moments due to two players squaring off each other.

Like I said the move set is so diverse that every character has a lot of options no matter which mode it is. I use Sly's and Kratos charge attack in 2vs2 AND 1vs1. It's just a matter of timing and not being too sucky at it. Heck I think slys charging attack works best against 1vs1 and in 2vs2, it leads to some interesting set ups that can be utilized to execute supers or just combo. Ask any one of the members here whome I played with if what I say is true or not. I'm pretty decent with Sly.

The fact that most people are saying 2vs2 is the most fun mode in the game is not something I made up. You are more than welcome to read up a bit on it. And I am including the opinions of players who had all the pros and cons of characters, move lists, combos etc etc all figured out before anyone else. I'm including the opinion of members who have even got 50+ score in matches.

BUT even then I'm telling you, it's a matter of opinion. That is not rocket science so you should be able to understand it easily. This is not about 'facts'. As with any fighting game of any form, which modes you prefer changes from person to person. But it is a fact that the majority of the players so far have preferred 2vs2 and 1vs1 to FFA. Just deal with it.

And please, don't try to explain the game mechanics of this title to me. It's just stupid

Man I just watched it again. This really is an awesome video. Radec's part was sweet. Took me a bit to realize what sacboy threw on the ground. Banana peel ha. Awesome. Sweet how Big Daddy goes down so hard right toward the camera.

Nariko vs Dante part is really cool as well. Cole vs Raiden is a freaking epic match-up, but I think their fight scene could've been cooler.

What hit sweet tooth's weapon out of his hand at the end? Couldn't catch it. Obviously would think it was kratos, but it looks like a blurred person or weapon flies past him.

Oh, and Aldro ur msg killed me. Climaxed haha. I loved it too man - gave me chills, so cool. Drake's the man.

It was one of Kratos' Blades of Chaos :)

Uhhhhhh... is there some reason you seem so upset about my comments?  Did I say something bad about the game or something?  I just said I thought it was more suited for FFA battles, which isn't really a good thing or a bad thing.  Just a thing.  So far, you can only do FFA matches, and I haven't gotten the chance to play any 1v1 matches.  That's why I said "I think".  Those are my impressions based on what I've played. Maybe I'm wrong.  It's quite possible, especially since I never claimed to be the authority on a metagame of a game that hasn't been released yet, but that's just what I thought.

I mean, "just deal with it"?  Why do I have to "deal with" anything?  Do you think I have some sort of problem with people preferring 1v1 to FFA?  Do you think I'm somehow upset with the fact that people like 1v1 over Free For All?  I assure you, I'm not part of some insane cult of FFA loving individuals who want to rid the world of 1v1 play.

Oh, and as for " how the hell do you not even think the 1vs1 are going to be intense for this game..I have no idea." When did I say anything like that?  What I said was "I think the game will be best suited for FFA."  I don't know why you reacted as if I said something negative about 1v1 and then kicked your puppy.  1v1 may be a perfectly fun option, but I think the game will shine more in FFA.

Mechanics of a game will influence what style of play suits it best.  Take Pokemon for instance.  You can play double battles, or triple battles, but because the game was designed around 1 on 1 battling, the game works best in that mode.  Of course, some people might enjoy double battles more.  You'll always have a subset of a game's fanbase who plays differently (there are people who like playing 1v1 in Halo) but I think the game is really geared towards FFA play.

And yes, all the characters do have charge attacks, which is part of why I think the game will lean more towards FFA.  With no run option and few universal movement options (i.e. dash, slide, airdash, short hops, or what have you) characters seem to rely on dashing attacks as a main form of approach.  Some of these (Nariko, Raiden) are clearly faster than others, but in general it seems like it could become a bit predictable in 1v1.  As a disclaimer before I upset you.

*I don't know how 1v1 will play out because they haven't put up a beta for 1v1 yet.

So, I'll use Kratos as an example, because he's the only character I really got to mess around with much before my PS3 met an untimely end.  His spear attack is kind of sluggish.  Unless you're standing right next to a person there is no way you should really hit them in a 1v1 match.  The same goes for his down triangle attack.  The start up for that thing is ludicrously high, and unless I'm wrong, the hitbox doesn't come into play until you hit the ground.  Don't see how that would be very useful in 1v1, but it would be useful in FFA when you may find yourself with more space to set it up, or in limiting space in 2v2.  His bow and arrow also seems like a tool that wouldn't work well in 1v1.  It's not exceptionally fast when uncharged, and unless there's some way to save the charge that I'm unaware of like Samus in Brawl, you won't really be able to hit with a charged shot in 1v1.  Of course, it would be useful in FFA to clip a distracted player from accross the stage.

Several of Kratos' air attacks hit all angles around him, which is obviously an advantage with more than one opponent on the screen, but not an especially useful with one character on the screen.  He also has attacks with have very long hitboxes (seem to function sort of as sex kicks) such as his multi spear stabby thingy, and a couple of attacks where he swings his blade around.  Compare this to the size and length of hitboxes in dedicated 1v1 fighters, where moves are generally shorter.  A bunch of Kratos' air attacks also stop or change his momentum in mid air, and this seems to be a theme with a lot of characters.  Combined with their large hitboxes this is a great trait to have in 4 player matches where being able to take up space and hit multiple people with an attack is most important.  In 1v1 matches where though, I feel that this would be a disadvantage as it Kratos doesn't seem to have many safe approach options.

The whole idea of the three tiered super meter seems geared specifically towards 1v1.  Even the better lvl three supers only seem capable of 2 kills in a 1v1 mode.  Of course they're easier to hit, but the combo system seems flexible enough that comboing into a lvl 1 shouldn't be too hard, so I think lvl 1s will almost exclusively be used in high lvl 1v1 play.  The system was clearly designed for situations where you'd have 2-3 opponents on the map and saving up your super meter could net a potential 3-6 kills.  In 1v1 play, the system doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

Of course, once again, it's hard to say how 1v1 will work because their is no 1v1 beta out there, and even the few videos of 1v1 that have been leaked out have since been deleted.  Again, based on the game's mechanics, the character's movesets, mobility options, etc, it seems like the game really wants you to have 4 characters on the screen at once.  That's my opinion for now, and if/when I play some 1v1 matches, maybe that will change.
