The Gamecube launched 2 months before the original Xbox, so unless you have a source to back your claim up I call bullshit.

Launched? I was talking about reveal dates, Xbox was revealed at gdc 2010, which was a bit earlier than nintendo spaceworld 2010.

You mean 2000 right?

Oh man, yes. :P Will fix that.

The WiiU is sexy, and I've always found the PS3 phat to be one ugly console. The old 360 never did it for me, too big, but I like the 360 S :)

One of my favorite console designs was the PS2 regular. So life-like.

But yeah, the WiiU is so sexy, and its controller is absolutely a clone of nothing, Nintendo owns all the other consoles and their controllers, historically speaking.

EDIT: By the way, great video in the OP. :)

EDIT2: Oh, and I almost forgot, I always preferred the 360 controller to the PS3 controller, so that's always been a reason for me to prefer the 360. But, I like the PS3's exclusives so the PS3 gets my win but in terms of multiplats I play them on 360, it's better, so kudos to Nintendo for taking the shell shape of the 360 controller, it's the best. :)

You tell it how it is happy!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

And the cube was so beautiful too, I regret listening to the haters in the past, they ruined it for me. I loved the cube, it was a great piece of HW design. Great controller too.

You are right, the X-Box was verbally announced at gdc 2000...and it looked like this:

Now if you ask me, that doesn't really look like the finished product, but I am not an expert when it comes to Microsoft consoles. That controller is a sidewinder gamepad pro btw.

This

is from CES 2001 and the first time the actual console and controller design was revealed (http://www.gamesfirst.com/articles/releases/xbox_unveiled_at_ces_2000.htm funny typo in the link actually, news says january 6th, 2001 though).

"LAS VEGAS — Jan. 6, 2001 — Today at 2001 International CES, Microsoft Corp. Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates revealed to the world the highly anticipated Xbox™ video game console during his keynote address. As the finale of his keynote, Gates showed off the Xbox console and game controller and demonstrated two exclusive Xbox games that highlight the future-generation console’s rich and realistic graphics capabilities."

Now this

is from Nintendo Space World 2000 where the gamecube was revealed in full. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FEeECj8DqA

It's around 8 minutes in. See also for date proof:  http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/4858

Busted? Busted.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Wow, it's tiny! That's something for sony to look at, if they try to make a PS3 slim slim slim!! I like the size of it, and the pro controller looks nice too, but has clearly borrowed parts of the xbox controllers design (not that it is a bad thing though)

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

MS should sue nintendo for copying their controller.

Nintendo should sue MS for copying the GameCube controller.

I don't see how ms copied gc controller, it does not look anything like any xbox controller I have seen.

I think he's refering to the placement of the analog sticks...

Wait, what?

Both Microsoft and Sony controllers plagiarize the SNES controller. If anyone is copying, it's nintendo's competition.

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

No. A PS4 would be too powerful to fit all its components in such a small, ugly form factor.
