Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft supplied the video footage for early Halo 4 reviews

If you saw one of those early Halo 4 reviews, there's a high chance what you were seeing is what Microsoft wanted you too see.

Gametrailers Editor-in-Chief revealed on Twitter that footage restrictions weren't lifted until launch. He goes on to state how they weren't comfortable with that footage for obvious reasons so they were one of the last to review the game at launch.

Gametrailers gave Halo 4 a 9/10. Watch their original review here.

They did that to ensure no one was posting spoiler material in their video reviews before the game came out

Yeah they also stated this in invisible Walls. GT is known to show a lot from the games. (that is why so many complain about spoilers in their reviews).

I'm effing glad Microsoft did that, I hate spoilers, and from the general concensus I take away that Halo 4 is polished throughout the entire game evenly, so it really isn't a big deal.

Companies do that with all big games, I remember the Zelda Skyward Sword video review on Gamespot having some issues because of spoilers, so gamespot had to cut some things from the video.

umm GT waited until Monday to release the review because they wanted to capture the footage themselves. I am not too certain that this was about 'spoilers'.

Okay I don't see what's the story behind it. That's the reason why it took so long for GT to make the review. Since they're about the only one using video footage that means what ?

Fuck all, considering GT is always reasonable late and uses "custom" footage.

What was it about then?

Do we need to spell it out for you? Microsoft has footage they sent out for people to use in their video reviews. You find nothing wrong with that?
This essentially would make all video reviews the same. Although I'm sure reviewers rearranged the footage and gave their own scores based on their own experiences.

Well they gave the game a 9/10. So no huge controversy here.
If you saw the latest Invisible Walls episode the reasoning behind this was given that if they found some sort of glitch or bug, it would be awkward to ask Microsoft for footage of this.....or even worse not mention it/show it at all.
