Forums - Gaming - Halo 4 Best looking game this Gen!

When you consider the FOV, size of terrain, level of detail...even computer AI...Halo 4 is absolutely the best technical achievement on consoles this gen. Nothing was sacrificed to achieve the level of detail in Halo 4.

Uncharted 2, 3 and Halo 4 are top 3.

There are some major publications tgat agree Halo 4 is tge best.  I believe Destructoid is one of them off the top of my head

I can't find in their review... just the best visual in 360.

"The visuals, lighting, and art direction are phenomenal too, adding tons of detail and pushing the Xbox 360 to points I haven't seen in any other game on the console. Comparing Halo 3's visuals to Halo 4's is night and day, to the point that the former looks last-gen in comparison".

I'm not a English expert but "on the console" references to "Xbox 360", no?

I doubt it...For xbox probably :/

Hey maybe their review doesnt say that IDK I was just mentioning stuff off the top of my head.

IMO there are only 4 other games you can put in the same category as Halo 4.  Uncharted 3, Killzone 3, God of War 3 and Forza Horizon.  All thos3 games look fantastic and at that point it becomes subjective.  Which art style you prefer is a huge part of it.

Best looking 360 game for sure but overall? Don't think so, yet to play the game though. Will buy when I have enough euros to get Gold for a few months/year.

If you haven't played it then why did you give it a review of 0/10 on metacritic? I don't think you've actually answered this yet and I want to know why you did it.

I haven't played it and I gave it a 10/10 and I don't even have an xbox (yet) lol or like halo for that matter XD

I want to add Gears 3 too... the Forza Horizon I can't say because I didn't play it too.

Ive played KZ3, Uncharted 1-3, GOW 3, all the Gears of War games, Witcher 2, Crysis 2, and all the Forza games and can prove it.

And Halo 4 is the best looking of the bunch. Many reviews state that as well. Prior to this game I wouldve argued KZ3 and GOW 3 had the most stunning moments but Halo 4 truly is the current console King

I haven't seen many reviews praise Halo 4 as the best looking console game. Some said that it matches the best, while others just call it the best FPS on consoles. But, I haven't seen an overwhelming amount of "best looking" pegs. I've still not seen a console title praised for its visuals, by critics and gamers alike, like Uncharted 3. Nearly every review said it was the best out there. That will be hard to top.

But again, Halo 4 should just be able to shine on its own.

I truly dont get the Uncharted love.  I never have.  Maybe its just because it has a horrifyingly bad art style but I dont even consider it the best on the PS3.  GOW3 and KZ3 both smash Uncharted to me.

You might not, but many others do.

Its the same way I dont see sandbox games such as Halo 4 and Crysis 2 on consoles being nearly as impressive as a linear game due to the fact that time is invested into other things than small small details such as particles, textures and what-not.

I've played most of the games you listed as well and Uncharted 3 along with God of War 3 is just on a whole other level. Be it fixed camera or linear corridors => They allow for the most subtle details that are otherwise ignored when playing a more open game.

Halo 4 and Crysis 2 are sandbox games???

The best graphics on console games this gen are likely racers and sims, but that's kind of an unfair comparison due to the nature of rendering those types of games compared to most other genres.
I haven't seen Halo 4 myself yet, but if its a good improvement over Halo Reach, then surely it must be a contender for best graphics in a console game (notice I don't say "best looking" since that takes other things into account as well, I find Dishonored to be better looking than Gears of Ware, for instance).

With all due respect my friend:
"Halo 4 is absolutely the best technical achievement on consoles this gen"

Now how about the visual part and not what is technically impressive?

Nothing was sacrificed you say: Yeah sure because the game itself is open. Think of it like this:

You are spending 10 hours making one area.

Will that area not look better if it was smaller and you could focus on every tiny tidbit detail as well as save space to have higher quality textures due to it not being as demanding?

Or would a much larger space where you just cant focus on every little tiny detail, and theres a lot of copy paste going on (im over exaggerating) in order to make that room complete.

At the end of the day: Were you to look at both games side by side without any knowledge of what is what (Halo is more open, Uncharted for example is not) do you realise which would be more of the "looker"?

Do any of you understand that if 343 made a game similar to Uncharted (im not saying they should and that you want it), but i am confident that the game would look drastically better. When discussing visuals and visuals alone, just use common sense. It really isnt that complicated.

Now were this thread renamed to "Halo 4 best technical and aesthetic game of this gen", then that's atleast a much more valid thing to say.
