how  would the journey be a nightmare?

The bus from my town to the town where my school is takes 25 minutes, my sister can drive there in less than 10 minutes. Most of the route is on a single road in the country.

Why not just pass it before or after its stopped... unless single road literally means single lane and there is no way possible to get around it

That's not too uncommon.  I grew up in a small town where that was often the case and even in the Dallas area that are a few places where it's easy to get stuck behind a bus you cannot pass.

Sounds like a shitty road that I would just completely avoid school bus or not

It's possible to overtake on country lanes, but when there is lots of traffic behind the bus and on the other side of the road, only a few cars get past at a time. That's not really the problem though, the bus isn't such a problem when it's moving. The main opportunity to overtake it is when it stops. I just find it hard to believe that all traffic is stopped for a minute or so to wait for buses to load and unload.

the bus has two sets of lights. yellow and red. Usually the bus drivers will pull over and let their lights flash yellow for a few seconds to allow people to pass before turning red.

Ahh, ok, gotcha. Didn't know there was a lights system, seems to make sense now.

While the punishment pretty hilarious, I'm a little mad she got off so easy.

If this were a one-time thing, sure, whatever, but if you watch the video it's obvious that this woman does this often. A slap on the wrist punishment and a $250 fine isn't going to teach a moron like that, give her jail time. Seriously, she's not only driving on the sidewalk, she's driving on the sidewalk around where children load and unload. At the very minimum she should at least never get her license back.

I was totally with you until the bolded. She's 32...

Exactly, she can't claim she didn't know any better

So in american if a school bus pulls over you have to stop behind it?

Here in NZ we can keep driving past it but have to go like 20km's.

So?

Like I said, she's a menace and there's public transportation.  She has no regard for anyone at all and will do whatever is best for her regardless of the consequences.  Do you really thing holding a sign for a few hours is going to stop that?  Remember, this is a woman who repeatedly drove on a sidewalk of a day care center while a school bus was loading and unloading children.  She is scum.

No, she's going to continue to be a douche, just she's going to be a douche on a different route now.

At least if she doesn't have a license she can't endanger everyone with her car anymore.

-edit-

Oh, and I forgot to add to her offenses that she blatantly lied in court and is wasting everyone's time by pleading not guilty even though there are videos of her doing it multiple different times.

Wait, so traffic on the other side of the road has to stop for the bus too!?
