Forums - General - The "I support Rafa against the owners" thread

Hicks and Gillet have gone too far with the klinsman approach. And it's obvious that Rafa was under pressure for some time now, which has had the players unfocused in football. Now a Dubai Group is offering 500 million for the club, and who doesnt want to see those bastardes out?! they really have drained the life out of this club, but i'm sure most of the fans will back benitez against everything that is going on. Despite the media's and owners' pressure, he never complained, he truely is the right man for the job.

Personally, Rafa is bad manager. The reason they could win Europe was because they got lucky, and he sacrificed the league for the cup. He does not accept that his rotation system does work and Liverpool need some consistancy.

Well you cant say he sacrificed. They are comparing Rafa to mourinho. Its true he had much more funds than the yr be4, but 50 million is no where near the levels mourinho spent, even manutd. plus since the first draw against portsmouth, pressure was increasing. Slip ups happen, liverpool were in bad form, but u need time to build a team even with torres.
Plus the fact he bought a player like torres and babbel is genius. Both are packed with technique, but everyone knows that isnt enough in the premierleague, so he saw the pace and strength of each. Torres was an instant success, and not many would've spent 23 million wisely(Forlan, Veron,Luque, etc...).

Another thing is to see where liverpool were be4 benitez, Gerrard and Carra are much improved players. The like of Alonso,Reina,Crouch, Mascherano, and agger are all magnificent buys, especially with not alot for Rafa to spend on! they substituted the likes of biscan(boought for 7m pounds), le tallec(5 ml), pongolle, henchoz, baros(was very overrated), cisse(14 ml )... so its a very improved squad.

Rafa needs time to get ahead, its true he rotates, and doesnt play the most attractive football, but since kenny dalglish(abt 20 yrs ago), this is the first tme it has actually worked for liverpool. even if we won the champions league in 2005 with luck, but with our squad it wasnt just luck. Defensively we were magnificent against Juve and Chelsea. Against Milan we came out, sure we were lucky, but we took the chance, we didnt let it go. To do 2 champions league finals in 3 yrs has produced alot of funds that in my opinion Gillet and Hicks should thank Rafa for! But they havent given him a chance, and dont know what it is in English football. they just think its another money making business, and thats not the liverpool way!

Yes, but Benitez has only acheived one thing in his reign, Mourinho won something every year, and that is what the owners want. They want a team that compete with Man U and Chelsea on all fronts
