um...I love the 3DS but when have those games (except for AC) ever sold a million copies in Japan?  The 3DS is selling well but NOT that well to  warrant a million copies of those games in one region!!!  I'd say maybe worldwide, some would have a chance though.

I gave you my evidence already. AC, PMD, Layton and Inazuma have all hit 1m in Japan alone at different times. Paper Mario hasn't, but it's never been on a handheld or on a really successful console for RPGs. LaytonVsAA and Inazuma are unlikely, I'll admit, but Pokemon is all but certain and Paper Mario's pretty likely (it manged around 600k on Wii, so why not 1m on 3DS?).

I think the point of no return for the Vita is rapidly approaching.  The Vita NEEDS a strong library of exclusive titles.  For that to happen, the Vita has to be an attractive prospect for developers.  If the Vita can't build up a respectable fanbase by the end of the holiday season, they're going to be in major trouble.  It doesn't look like Assassin's Creed will give the Vita the boost it needs, and based on preorders and previews, Black Ops doesn't seem capable either.  I want to see the Vita succeed, but it looks like the 3DS is going to be the lone flag bearer for dedicated handheld gaming :-/

3DS vs the horde of smartphones, tablets and analysts that is hoping to end the days of dedicated consoles/handhelds as we know it. Sounds like the invasion of Minas Tirith to me folks, the 3DS has it's work cut out being the only flag bearer for dedicated handheld gaming since the PSV obviously isn't up to snuff to back the 3DS on this one!!! CUT THE PRICE SONY...CUT THE PRICE ALREADY!!!

THE BEACONS OF MINAS TIRITH ARE LIT!  NINTENDO CALLS FOR AID.

............Then Sony will answer. Muster the All-Stars!

Or, alternatively--

Nintendo: I will release a dedicated handheld console! Though... I do not know the way.
Sony: I will help you bear this burden, Nintendo. As long as it is yours to bear.
Capcom: If by my success or failure I can bolster your sales, I will. You have my MonHun.
Squeenix: And you have my Dragon Quest.
Disney: And my Mouse.
Konami: You carry the fate of us all, little one. If this is indeed the will of the consoles...then Konami will see it done.
Sega: HEH! ...Mr. Nintendo's not goin' anywhere without me.
ESA: No indeed, it is hardly possible to separate you, even when he is still in the hardware business and you are not.
Ubisoft: Oy! We're coming, too!
Bamco: Anyway! You need blockbuster games on this sort of... console. Device. ...Thing.

Yeah but maybe the Vita will die as a handheld and be reborn as a gaming phone to compete against the onslaught of iPhones and Android devices.

Really a shame about the Tekken game though. Maybe it'll pick up?

A rebirth sounds like exactly what the Vita needs. A price cut and a new marketing strategy at the very least. A strong push for cross-buy. Make the Vita a true extension of the PS3/4, in addition to having its own content.
