Romney is anti-gay. If he wins this country will lose 40 years of progress.

Well, both politicians are still campaigning, just in different ways. Obama is making sure he handles this as well as possible (by which I mean, pour a shit tonne of money into it. Probably more and faster than he would have done if this occurred two years ago), because he knows it will do him well in the election.
It CAN hurt Obama in the sense that Sandy is preventing early votes... and Obama's expected to do well with early voters. But, I doubt this will result in a material loss in terms of electoral college votes in those states. In terms of the popular vote, he might lose a couple of percent, which may have an impact on elections out West.
Anyway, if Obama is re-elected, these are the things I'd like to see (which are inline with his views/policies):
- Immigration reform. The current system is a mess, and is keeping fantastic talent (read: me) from legally entering the country.
- Further progress in terms of gay marriage. I do not believe that gay marriage is a state issue. In fact, I believe that refusing to allow somebody to marry is unconstitutional. Full stop. And the Supreme Court would probably agree with me.
- I want him to honor state-level marijuana laws. He runs as this cool and happening President, who's inhaled marijuana smoke (because that is the point, you know), and yet he's run the most brutal campaign on the war on drugs that we've seen in decades - Federal agents are even raiding weed stores in states where they are legal. This is clearly unconstitutional. What happens when Colorado/Washington/Oregon votes to completely legalise it? What will Obama do then?
... and that's all about I can hope for out of a 2nd term Obama, and each point is even more unlikely than the last.
No point in even asking for budget cuts, regulatory cuts, tax cuts, ending wars, monetary reform. Just won't happen.
If, God forbid, he should be reelected, I'd like him to do something about his creepy cult of followers who say things like "our beloved Obama". Drone strikes preferred.
Reverse his position on drone strikes, or reverse his position on the NDAA. Either would be great.

You do realize every president including Obama up until about half a year ago was anti-gay... correct?
Hell, i'd argue Obama is still anti-gay since he now holds the same gay marriage position as Dick Cheney. Which is... "It's a state issue."
A cowardly statement that's complete bullshit when you consider the fact that their are tons of federal benefits tied to marriage... and well... every other fucking thing doing with marriage has been a federal level event.
Unless Obama is willing to say Loving vs Virginia was ruled incorrectly and interracial marriage should be a state issue to.

But we've made 40 years of progress in those last four months because Obama is just that dreamy and awesome!

I couldn't disagree more.
I mean... what could be better politically for Obama in the middle of an arguement about the correct size of govenrment... then a giant disaster that forces a number of states to rely on government?
Allowing him to look presidential and confident, while Mitt Romney either has to disapear until the end of the storm, or continue to do campaign stuff and look fakey and have people challenging him for campaigning during a national emergency.
The only real issue is early voting. Which may or may not matter because I don't think the polls take that into account so much... and if anything might help.
Since there is a weird cascade effect in American politics, where if you win the east states you have a better chance of taking west states.

Let me guess, your definition of anti gay is when someone believes in a traditional marriage ?
