Ballmer: four million Windows 8 upgrades in four days

Greetings in beautiful, gray Redmond, WA. What better time to kick off year's Build event at the Microsoft campus than four days after the launch of Windows 8? CEO Steve Ballmer started the developer-centric event off with a nice little number: four million. According to the enthusiastic exec, that's the number of Windows 8 upgrades MS has seen in the four days since launch -- and there's certainly a lot of excitement around the operating system this tent full of developers.

Well when you can upgrade for as little as $15 this comes as no surprise. I'm personally pretty happy with the upgrade.

I'm still waiting for mine retail copy to arrive along with my nice new 512gb SSD.

I think I am going to stick with Windows 7. I don't like the look of Windows 8. I know it might be better in most areas but I just can't get over that look. Reminds me of the look of a Windows phone and I never liked the way they looked.

It's very customizable and the new start screen doesn't have to be up all the time. You can use the start screen like the start button and arrange your programs in columns just the the good old days. If you prefer desktop to apps you can ignore the fullscreen apps and use Win 8 in basicly the same way as Win 7. Aside fromt he new start screen it isn't much different.

Can I still buy an upgrade and get the full version like with Windows 7?
