I don't understand what's wrong with the price right now? $250 for a handheld that is nearly equivalent to a console? CHEAP! |
The problem is that people don't look at the price of things based on their capabilities, they look at the price relative to what they're used to paying ...
Hypothetically speaking, a company could produce a game console that was equal to a $5,000 PC and sell it for $900 and it would be a great value for the money but far too expensive for consumers to buy it as a videogame console.
People used to buy handheld gaming systems for $100 to $150 and have recently shown the willingness to spend $150 to $200, but $250 with the need to spend an additional $50 on a memory card is too much for most customers. It could be twice as powerful as the PS-Vita is today and that still won't make it a more compelling handheld gaming system at $250.

Please. Know thy enemy. It makes me surprisingly well informed. Doesnt take away the validity of my point (underlined). |
Wow. I wonder when sony killed your dog. But whatever.
Regarding your point, I dont necessarily think people are going to say that. After all the 3DS was in a bad position as well after launch but a price drop and huge IPs made a massive difference. Granted, sony are in a trickier position and doesnt have the huge selling IP to pull that off (unless they port GT5 over to the vita which is unlikely) but it is still possible. I think most people who have or have played the psv consider it to be reasonably good though with not a great amount of software at the moment so Im not sure that will have a huge or any much of an effect.
