The problem is that people don't look at the price of things based on their capabilities, they look at the price relative to what they're used to paying ...

Hypothetically speaking, a company could produce a game console that was equal to a $5,000 PC and sell it for $900 and it would be a great value for the money but far too expensive for consumers to buy it as a videogame console.

People used to buy handheld gaming systems for $100 to $150 and have recently shown the willingness to spend $150 to $200, but $250 with the need to spend an additional $50 on a memory card is too much for most customers. It could be twice as powerful as the PS-Vita is today and that still won't make it a more compelling handheld gaming system at $250.
