Android tablets have been a total failure minus the kindle line, but holds 40% of the market. It should not be too hard for Ms to be successful in that market.

I would like point out that the Nexus 7 is the best seeling android tablet of all time. There is a new 32 gb model coming out and the brand new Nexus 10. You might want to do research before just making assumption posts.

Windows Phone is dead. It's been on the market for over a year and achieved nothing.

In the last quarter (July-September 2012) Nokia, the biggest Windows Phone vendor by far, sold a measly 2.9 million Windows Phones at an average selling price of $200.

Meanwhile Apple sold 27 million iPhones at $650 a piece. That's 30 times more revenue for iPhones than Nokia Windows Phones. And let's not even mention profit margins, because they are non-existent on Windows Phones.

And Android smartphones sold even more.

...

*Sigh* You really do have no idea what you're talking about. This is getting really, really sad.

Guys, he's not going to change his mind. Despite the obviousness of his posts containing mostly pure opinion he still persists as it being fact.

Case in point: he's a troll.

I used facts to prove Windows Phones have accomplished nothing after a full year on the market, why is that a problem?

You do realize that this is a long term investment and not a year investment?  IN fact Microsoft is gaining market in the phone market.  They are getting ready to pass Blackberry which has been around for year.  Once they do they will be in third place.  Once again though, this is the plan for windows 8.  Make all there devices more recognizable.

Comments from a very select few who don't reflect the mass market.

selnor, you are trying your best at hyping this device but 6 months from now no one here on VGC will be talking about it because it's declared dead by then with less than 5% marketshare.

Really, if it got anything near a 5% marketshare that would be Amazing!

Plus, people still talk about Apple computers, and they almost never hit 5%.

Has any early adopter tried Xbox on their tablet?  And how well did it work?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I know its none of my business, but Im not a fan when people act all high and mighty just cause theyve read and misunderstood an article...

Carphone Warehouse is a retailer chain in Europe, and for them Nexus 7 may have been the best selling android tablet of all time. But nothing in that article does it say about total sales.  Thats like using Amazon ranked products to measure sales for videogames.

In the grand scheme of things...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_7

3 million (as of mid October 2012)[

7 million (as of mid October 2012)

I think Surface Pro will have someting to say about that. Basically the only tablet which can fully function with any business.

A few million Pro tablets might sell to businesses next year but that's still not enough to become relevant or earn more than a measly 5% when ipad and Android commands 45% respectively.

We will see in a years time. Apple and Android will not have that marketshare next year guaranteed. Hell like I said already Microsoft have more partners than Google for their OS on Tablets.

It doesn't mean anything that other vendors are making Surface powered tablets. Just look at Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8. The same could be argued there, all the big guys made (and are still making) Windows Phones. And yet it is dead.

Think of it this way. MS is launching two tablets, the RT and the Pro. They have invested heavily in both, in marketing and otherwise.

And we already know the RT has failed and failed big time. It's the new Zune. No one wants it. So why on earth do you think that the delayed one of the two devices will somehow magically become a success?`When the market is heading towads $300 and $400 tablets you believe the $800 tablet will have any chance?

What basis has it failed?

Seriously. It is sold out before launch. Now its sold out for its next batch. Where does that mean failed????

Admit that even you feel it in your spine that RT will fail bigtime.

Have you asked yourself why the Surface only was released to official Microsoft stores and online? How pathetic is that! Have you ever seen a Microsoft store? I would bet you haven't, since there are only 31 Microsoft Stores in the whole world.

Really. So the fact that Im getting mine from an actual shop that is not Microsoft Store here in UK 'and' that you are likely not to get one before Dec 15 in my country due to 'sold out' means I feel it in my spine?

Your clinging hard to something that isnt there.

May I suggest you start a new thread for every single positive article/news about just any product that is somehow related to Microsoft.
Oh wait, you're already doing that.

I wonder how you manage to find these positive articles though. When I quickly googled for early adopters reviews, all I came across were articles like "Why I'm returning my Surface RT" ( http://ozar.me/2012/10/why-im-returning-my-microsoft-surface-rt/ ), "Three days in the life of a once and former Microsoft Surface RT user" ( http://www.zdnet.com/three-days-in-the-life-of-a-once-and-former-microsoft-surface-rt-user-7000006421/ ).

ROFL. 1 link says page not found.

The other goes to a news feed.

You're probably using Microsoft Internet Explorer. ;)

Actually Im trying Chrome. Cause VGC sucks with Firefox and IE. To be honest Chrome is just as bad. This site is horrible in any browser.

I'll quote *that* for truth. :)

Since the Surface was announced it has been predicted to be a success, and do you know why?  Because of Windows 8.  Windows 8 will push tablets, computers, and phones all in one. If you are going to give any argument on why Windows 8 would not be a success on tablets please do so, because I highly doubt you can come up with a reasonable argument.

You're coming to the wrong conclusions. What has been predicted to be a success? Personally I haven't read any article stating something like that, but if they did it's clear they talked about Surface Pro, not Surface RT. Both devices run Windows 8, and apart from Windows 8 RT not being able to run the usual x86 programs, there's hardly any difference in both Windows 8 versions. And yet, Windows 8 RT and thus the Surface RT are not going to be a success.

Why? Because it's not Windows 8 people are excited for. If people really were so excited for Windows 8, Microsoft wouldn't try so hard to push Windows 8 sales by selling it for 14.99.

What people are excited for is the new form factor. People are used to and like notebooks, but they are also interested in tablets. Both devices have their shortcomings and advantages, but who'd wanna carry around both?

And now, finally, there are devices that can be work as both, a notebook and a tablet!!! Whoooo!!! In my opinion, that new form factor is running into open doors, similar to the "netbook" a few years ago. I alone know four people who have long been looking for such a device. The new "convertibles" were already going in the right direction, but there were few of them and they still  weren't exactly what they were looking for.

Tablets with attachable keyboards that can work as a serious alternative to a classic notebook - THAT, in my opinion, will indeed be an incredible success story. That's what Microsoft really did great about the Surface (even though the reviews so far have made clear that the solution Microsoft uses in the Surface is still far from being perfect)

What I was trying to explain to him in general is that this is a Windows 8 device that will be successful.

Anyways though you are correct at it bridging the gap for Notebooks and tablets.  I actually know about 200 people that may be getting the
Surface here soon.  I work in a business and they are all the time wanting ipads but we refuse to buy them because they are worthless in the business world as you can't type effectively and without microsoft office it just doesn't seem to be the way to go.  The surface could be our next product
