People are used to and like notebooks, but they are also interested in tablets. Both devices have their shortcomings and advantages, but who'd wanna carry around both? And now, finally, there are devices that can be work as both, a notebook and a tablet!!! Whoooo!!! In my opinion, that new form factor is running into open doors, similar to the "netbook" a few years ago. I alone know four people who have long been looking for such a device. The new "convertibles" were already going in the right direction, but there were few of them and they still weren't exactly what they were looking for. Tablets with attachable keyboards that can work as a serious alternative to a classic notebook - THAT, in my opinion, will indeed be an incredible success story. That's what Microsoft really did great about the Surface (even though the reviews so far have made clear that the solution Microsoft uses in the Surface is still far from being perfect) |
What I was trying to explain to him in general is that this is a Windows 8 device that will be successful.
Anyways though you are correct at it bridging the gap for Notebooks and tablets. I actually know about 200 people that may be getting the
Surface here soon. I work in a business and they are all the time wanting ipads but we refuse to buy them because they are worthless in the business world as you can't type effectively and without microsoft office it just doesn't seem to be the way to go. The surface could be our next product
