As someone who works at target in the electronics department i can say this isn't going on at the stores.

In "that other forum" there are people who say their local Target honored the online deal.

But the online price is back to $300 so it's already too late..

You don't require that drastic of a price cut to clear out old stock. This positively wreaks of liquidation, and the chain writing the product off at a loss. This is exactly what the beginnings of a sell off would like. Sometimes a good deal is simply too good to be true. This should actually unnerve you as well informed gamers. You should be thinking this if the Vita is so good why do they want to get rid of it so bad. The obvious answer is that it is going to be worth even less in a month then what they are charging now.

I warned you guys about this months ago. I told you this would start happening at the end of October, or early November. Guess what there it is right in front of you. Yeah sure don't believe me go out and buy this thing, but don't bawl on these forums when it blows up in your face.

Not a product, a model. The worst selling model from 8 months ago.

I know a lot of people are going to say that they don't like how the 'ps3fans' are arguing about the wording, but it's as simple as this.
The way you word something has tremendous impact on the fundamental understanding of the situation.
If there were to be a 'product line' that was 'slashed by half' by 'retailers' even 'before the holiday season' when sales would have compensated for the lack of price drop, then one could understandably say, "that product is in trouble".

When it is worded correctly, the situation proves very different. A 'single unpopular model' of a product line that is 'soon to be made redundant by bundled versions for the holiday season', receiving a price drop 'from a single retailer's online store' paints a very different picture.

The difference is, the second entry uses all the correct terminology and language, and the first does not.

This thread gave me cancer.

Anyway congrats to the lucky few who got this sweet deal.

40% price cut and it is not even black friday yet...
This could be big in both directions.

Sony cutting the price by that much or retailers losing faith in the vita and reduce their stock

implying nintendo didn't do the same thing.

That is the first scenario I described. Check the bolded part please.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

My bad, P. I was getting the impression you were being negative by saying the phrase "by that much". Apologies.

No shit.  I just tried :)

They did give me 20% off tho (I turned it down as BF deals will be better)

Lucky you. they would never give that to me because I'm an employee. Also, i have no clue why they would offer you that in the first place. They are only suppose to mark down displays by 10% so I don't know why they would try to sell a boxed item to you for more than that.

As for BF deals... maybe they will be better but the issue with that is being one of the few that get the deal... the 20% was a sure thing which I would have taken... and there is no guarentee youll get 60$ off for BF either

Agreed, which is why I let my friend have it and Ill just wait.

Oh well, Sale is over anyway.  Be curious to know how many they Sold

Hopefully this is a pre-black friday sale or something...I have a feeling that a number of retailers are about to drop the Vita in favor of upcoming HD consoles like the Wii U and 720!!!

I have no clue why the target would do that. In fact, I'm sure those employees will get in trouble considering the system will flag those transactions. Those people must have gotten lucky and dealt with morons.

Just trying to move stock.
