Holiday sales kick in ~ Nov 1st every year.  4 days away, not weeks. Do you just have fun stretching the reality of a situation? The hell do you mean "retailers"? It's just Target (ONE retailer) doing an online deal on an old and expensive bundle from launch involving the least popular model of a system. Oh yea, this looks bad for the Vita.

On a side note, I find the idea of retailers losing faith in the Vita hilarious. How much faith did they have to begin with? I've yet to walk into a gamestop with more than half a few shelves for the system. Seriously.

bolded part: well I disagree. November is the month with all the software-releases, but the hardware madness really starts in December / last week of November.

My bad, I wrote retailers, but meant a retailer.

Serious question:

Who do you blame for the failure of the Vita?

I'd say 75% of the blame can go to SONY.

You don't require that drastic of a price cut to clear out old stock. This positively wreaks of liquidation, and the chain writing the product off at a loss. This is exactly what the beginnings of a sell off would like. Sometimes a good deal is simply too good to be true. This should actually unnerve you as well informed gamers. You should be thinking this if the Vita is so good why do they want to get rid of it so bad. The obvious answer is that it is going to be worth even less in a month then what they are charging now.

I warned you guys about this months ago. I told you this would start happening at the end of October, or early November. Guess what there it is right in front of you. Yeah sure don't believe me go out and buy this thing, but don't bawl on these forums when it blows up in your face.

............ wow.

As someone who works at target in the electronics department i can say this isn't going on at the stores.

TPC's - temporary price cuts - are a tricky thing. If they were discontinuing stock on the model it would go on clearence... and that starts at 5% for expensive electronics up to 15% on cheap items. and increase usually bi-weekly by 5%... I'm waiting for a 55inch vizio tv to get marked down by another 5% at my store. Originaly 800 dollars and is 10% off right now. TPC are sometimes on items that are about to go on clearence, or on fruit about to go bad. But they are usually less than the amount they are about to clearence it for.

Also, if these were at the store good luck getting one. the employees would buy them up and get an extra 15% off that price.

You do realize that Target didn't even do this for the PSP Go right? This is online only for an old bundle. They will still carry the 3g model but not of the old bundles... trust me on this, Ive been waiting for a good deal on a hand held for in between classes at Marquette.

Lucky you. they would never give that to me because I'm an employee. Also, i have no clue why they would offer you that in the first place. They are only suppose to mark down displays by 10% so I don't know why they would try to sell a boxed item to you for more than that.

As for BF deals... maybe they will be better but the issue with that is being one of the few that get the deal... the 20% was a sure thing which I would have taken... and there is no guarentee youll get 60$ off for BF either

40% price cut and it is not even black friday yet...
This could be big in both directions.

Sony cutting the price by that much or retailers losing faith in the vita and reduce their stock

implying nintendo didn't do the same thing.

As another someone who works at Target in the electronics department, I can confirm this. I'm also pretty sure that it's not Target just dumping the Vita. I stocked 4 PSVita/AC:Liberation bundles a few days ago, and we typically get ~20 Vita games a week. There isn't a large area for it, but it does have a devoted section up front.

Just a clearance sale. There's lots of new Vita bundles coming in the next few weeks, this old one has no chance of selling.

Anyway the price is back up to $300 after being out of stock....
