Forums - Gaming - GTA V coming Spring 2013 to PS3, X360. UPDATE: it's official now, R* confirms

this thread turned into port begging and whining faster than usual.
The Ninty fans on this site swear that there are millions of them that are upset about this, please. Most people who were interested in getting GTA has a PS360 or PC by now. Lets be real.

It isn't on pc though. If we believe this poster anyway :P

And it is true that most people have those systems but I bet there would be a good number of people who would consider buying it on wii u if it got there.

Well tech demos are most of the time just that, demonstrating the tech that the engine allows for. The engine might not quite reach the same heights on PS4/720 as in the demo, but it will be close in any case. Epic clearly have lost interest in PC gaming, or they are at least more interested in consoles now, so there would be no reason for them to make UE4 unless there are new and more powerful consoles on the way.

UE3 was scalable as well, but they didn't bother with the Wii anyway. The point here was that devs won't wait for PS4/720, but evidence does exist that they are waiting.

Viper1 or Soleron could explain it better but, if I'm not mistaken, UE3 wasn't ported to Wii because of the architecture of Wii's GPU.

The UE3 was designed to run on modern machines where the GPUs worked in some way (a way that everyone now uses, so it was a correct decision), but the GPU on the Wii came from the GameCube so it didn't work in that way. So Epic had to choose: they could either work to make UE3 able to run on the Wii (which was almost like making a new engine) or forget it and focus on the other devices that could run it as it was. It's not that they didn't bother, it's just that they decided that it wasn't an economically viable option.

The GPU on WiiU run with the same architecture as every other device, future nextbox and PS4 included.

Oh, and the first announced game to run on EU4 is Epic's "Fortnite", a PC exclusive.

OT: Rockstar doesn't have unlimited resources and since open world/sandbox games are hard to develop it's a wise decision to focus the development on their biggest platforms and once that is done, make the other versions. That is why the PC version will come later.

And Nintendo can only ask them to do the port/version, but if Rockstar doesn't have the manpower to do it, even if Nintendo were funding it, they would not agree.

There are no surprises here, and we can only hope that in that Gameinformer article Rockstar talks about other platforms besides PS360 and a WiiU version is announced.

GTA games usually get released later on PC. I have no doubt thats the case here.

A good number of people dont mean squat to R*. What difference does it make to them if they sell GTA5 on Wii U instead of PS3 or 360? If your a multiplat owner and GTA5 never made it to wiiU you would still buy on PS3. If it did make it to Wii U and you bought it for that, that is still only ONE copy of the game being sold. So if you are R* is it really worth it to put resources in a port of a game that damn near anyone who really wanted has the system to buy it? (FYI im all about multiplats, but these are buinesses)

Well rockstar have said outright that they were happy with sales of it on ds. The rest of the quote said it would have done much better had it not been for piracy. And that sold over 1 million. So there is definitely some kind of fanbase for gta on nintendo. It would have more to do with development costs and timing of release.

I don't know why anyone is surprised in here.

It's obvious that they don't launch with a PC version. No 3D GTA ever did that. (Dunno how it was in the PS1 era)
The game has been in development for 5 years when it comes out, why delay it any further just to have a WiiU version at launch.
Then just because WiiU gets late ports of high quality HD games like Batman Arkham City, Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed 3, these future WiiU owners fell like they're entitled to get GTA V. Be happy about those ports. You're not entitled to get anything from third parties, especially old games. But instead the bitching continues.

Also how could anyone think this is a fake ? 3 years ago maybe, but only days before we get all informations in a magazine ? Nope.

Yes they're entitled to GTAV. If the console can handle it, there's no excuse other than developer/publisher ignorance and hate

Fortunately, this proves for ever that Rockstar and/or Take Two are irrational haters and deserving of perpetual ridicule from Nintendo fans.

I know i'm not going to let this die, for one.

On the other side Rockstar thinks there's no excuse not to get a PS3 or 360 to play the game at launch if you're really THAT interested (desperate) in playing the game.

They think Nintendo only owners are ignorant for not getting their highly acclaimed game on the platforms they've decided to develop for.

Obviously PS3/360 owners aren't entitled to get any specific game either. It's not their or even Sony's or Microsoft's final decision.

There's a difference between paying for exclusivity and deliberately ignoring one of the major platform-holders. We're not entitled to every game, but we are entitled to all multiplat games, because there's no good reason for it to not go that way.

You're not entitled to anything made by a third party because you own a single console mate, that's the nature of being 'third party' - they're not tied to any specific platform and have relative freedom change their minds at any time. R* do not owe anything to owners of any specific platform.

The only games you get to play on the Wii U are games Nintendo has secured and deemed fit for release. You're 'entitled' to those and those only. Same for any console.

OT, I wouldn't rule out a later Wii U port down the line. It's realistic to assume that Rockstar need to focus dev on the PS360 versions to meet their release deadline.

So incredibly hyped for this game.

no, that means there was a fanbase for a UNIQUE GTA game on DS, I dont know why people compare a portable system to a console that hasnt come out yet. Not all Ninty fans buy all Ninty products. and I would like to see a quote cause last i checked they were not happy about the sales for GTA on DS, but its kind of irrelevant, we are talking about a 3d game that at best might be a late port anyway and that still doesnt answer my intial inquiry. If one was actually interested in GTA5 they would already have a system to run it, even if that person had a Wii U and bought that version R* didnt make any extra money as that person would have bought it on PS360 anyway

There are two degrees of interest to deal with. The first are people who buy a console to play a game, the second who buy an interesting-looking game on a console they own.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

So, Khan, assuming GTA V isn´t coming to the Wii U, how comparable is this situation to the one involving PSP/Monster Hunter/3DS/Vita?
