Forums - Gaming - So what’s the verdict gaming folks…does The Last of US look better than Uncharted 3?

As to the difference between the cutscenes and the gameplay, gameplay has noticeably lower quality textures and lighting, as well as lower resolution foliage and hair.

Still looks great though, and is probably going to be the best looking CONSOLE game this gen.

Tough to say. The important thing is that as long as The Last of Us isn't 8 hours of falling through floors, it will be the better game.

Yeah, while I did like Uncharted 3, it fell short of #2 for me because it was a too scripted; the pipe you were climbing up breaking away from the wall or the floor collapsing beneath you were really overused, to the point where it got very annoying. Still an 8/10 game, but it could have been a 9/10.

Hmmm, I think this video sums up the debate perfectly perfectly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLk4Ia0otko

Not only does both look awsome but the way they look should be far away from the top of ppl's list of concerns.

What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)

Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)

Crowning any game the "graphical king" is pretty much meaningless to me. It's one of the least important elements, in my opinion, toward making a game a fun or challenging experience. Looking at the two games in question, all I can say is that I like the style of The Last of Us better. Uncharted has a Indiana Jones movie feel, like there are wardrobe people just off-set with a fresh change of rumpled clothing. TLoU, on the other hand, feels a lot more raw and realistic.

I don't believe TLoU is as pretty as Uncharted, but I don't think it's trying to be. Instead, it's attempting to be more true-to-life, which is both harder to pull off and more impressive if they can manage it.

LOL in All-Stars an attack of his is to fall through a crumbling floor.

XD That's hilarious. You're not kidding?

They look about equal. TLOU has slightly better shadows, and will be less linear, so that could mean we'll see bigger and more complex environments which makes it a little more impressive technically than U3, though now that I think about it U3 in all its linearity had some massive, dynamic environments.

ND have probably "maxed out" the PS3, or it's as far as anyone will go.

From that first picture and all of the CGI content I have seen I will have to go with The Last of Us. The only competition it gets from Aldros game is the Desert.

His name is Aldro right? Aldo?

Waldo?  Alpo?  We know who you're talking about.

I haven't been watching the game as closely as others, but by this time in Uncharted 2 or 3's life, we saw collapsing buildings with shit flying all over the place, helicopter attacks with swaying bushes, burning buildings, stunning deserts, and a guy falling out of an airplane.  All I've seen with The Last of Us is a guy walking through a hotel (or motel), shooting generic guys.  If there's some great graphic set piece, they need to show it.  I plan on buying this game and I can appreciate the non-game models of insanely detailed face renders but I haven't seen anything (graphics wise, not gameplay wise) that has blown me away, yet.  Like many have said, there probably isn't much juice left in the current gen.  The games still look good but the days when we say "wow" may just be over.

They are both made by the same company with different artistic views. They are more than likely running with the same power and quality as one another.
