Fast 4C+ CPU (check out new Vishera review too @ http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-8350-vishera-review,3328-10.html), lot of RAM, fast and large HDDs. You might also want to check out some Video Editing Cards in addition to regular stuff (like Blackmagic Intensity http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/intensity/).
I have a simple NVidia GT230 1.5gb gpu and the hdd is the limiting factor.
It might be different for Adobe though. Pinnacle can do 99% of the effects real time in the preview screen while I'm editing, so good enough for my needs. I turned background processing off which works faster in the end because of less HDD access. 4 cores, 8 threads all trying to do their own disk access, doesn't take a genius to see how that goes :)
I wouldn't mind playing around with Adobe Premiere CS6 for a while, but not for $799,- ouch.
