Forums - Nintendo - Wii U's Very First TV Ad...Hmmm Looks Familiar...;)

#1: When I saw him rubbing the touch screen for shooting I just thought: please don't do such things in video games... I would always prefer pressing a button to rubbing a touchscreen endlessly.

I somehow think that me and that new controller won't be getting friends... Like I prefered the classic controller over that damn Wii mote.

So you would rather click one out than rub one out.

You should sue.

I loved the ''Finally, a BRAND NEW CONSOLES with a BRAND NEW CONTROLLER''. If after this I hear of more morons claiming the think this add on I swear I will hit them...

Also, lol at the women saying ''I wanna watch the TV now'', such great acting.

Overall I thought the add was pretty meh...

You know, I thought that part was goofy and cringe-worthy, and made it sound like an ad for a cleaning product, but I didn't know that people thought it was an add-on.  In that respect, I imagine it would be important to communicate that fact clearly.

Over-all the ad was OK but nothing special.  I think they were trying to hook the casual Wii user with the touch-screen stuff, with a little of ME3 thrown in for the core crowd.  There just wasn't enough time to show off some of the fuctionality well.  The ZombieU bit, for example, was highlighted MUCH better in the longer web-promo, but in this ad was just kind of a confused blur.

Still, a first ad is supposed to be an over-view, so I suppose they were just trying to get people to understand the concept.  They need to run some dedicated ZombieU commercials, though, I think that would impress people a lot more.

Oh, and finally, brace for in-coming customer confusion.  I bet anything a LOT of people are going to think this is like a real handheld you can take anywhere.  I imagine some of the British tabloids are going to accuse Nintendo of consumer deception.

This ad is not for the people on this website. It does exactly what it needs to do.

Informative, I guess, but awfully dry for an entertainment product, isn't it?

For the casual market, it's pretty infomartive, but for the core gamers, yeah it's pretty meh.

so i have to watch the commerical without sound for at least right now so it's hard to judge.  ..but, it seems like a pretty night and day difference from their "wii would like to play" series.

i dunno, it might work but visually.. the commerical in the OP just seems too fast paced and violent in nature to attract the expandand audience that made the wii big.  this seems like it would work moreso on existing ps360 owners.

I miss those old Wii commercials...

I also miss the original DS slogan...

Touching is good...

So not Nintendo...

Have a nice day...

they were very good and effective commercials i must admit.  i wish sony was able to create something even half as effective.
