Forums - PC - DAYZ Standalone: First Screenshots

Over the last few months Dean “Rocket” Hall and the rest of the DAYZ team at Bohemia Interactive have been hard at work on the Standalone title, the Alpha version of which is set to release this year. They’re making great progress, as evidenced in the following screens showing off some new interiors and a brand new area:

Rocket has acknowledged the “clean” look of the interiors, on the DAYZ Tumblr he writes “we feel our first task is to create the interiors and ensure we are happy with the gameplay and quality of the basic texture work – then we will go through to add elements more authentic to the situation.  Overall, we believe the experience should have a style more akin to “The Road” rather than gore for gore’s sake.  When you find gore in DayZ, it will mean something and have impact.”

We’re loving the “fuller” and more realistic interiors. Check out more screens at the blog linked above.

100% Pumped! Love DayZ as it is now and I've had a blast playing, however I've also always felt it lacked that polished touch. Can't wait to see more!

Looks quite a bit better, hopefully effects and physics are improved too.

I actually don't think it's being improved graphically at all, aside from better textures.

The outside screenshot definitely looks "meh". The indoor ones look pretty good though.

why aren't they using ARMA 3 engine? Seems kinda odd to build the standalone on an old version of the engine.

@TheVoxelman on twitter

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

How much is this going to cost? I mean I can buy arma 2 (addon) I dunno for 14 or so. I mean you need arma2 "demo" you dont have to buy it + arma2 addon "game" that you bought and you can play dayZ,

So I wont pay 15 for dayZ only.

It looks like a less detailed Alan Wake.

Well the outside shot definitely reminds me of a less detailed Alan Wake screenshot.

Whats the game about?

I'm actually a bit excited about this game, tried the beta briefly.

"The standalone engine we are using is a branch of Take on Helicopters, which itself is a branch of ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead. We chose this because of its stability, ease of development, very achievable optimization, and the fact that our programmers are the architects of the engine - the very people who built it from the ground up over ten years."
