The more is gets concrete, the more I'm worried about Sony. Even though I like Nintendo more, competition is what makes the gaming industry so viable. I hope this major restructuration will be helpful.

I don't quite understand why this is making big news again - the 10,000 job losses were announced quite a while ago, no? Is it because Sony have announced where the job losses are coming from?
Still, sad to see for all those affected. Especially around this time of year.
I hope it sets Sony back on the right track. Because if they went under, it would be a lot more than 10,000 jobs lost.
And of course, I want to see Sony succeed!
Old news is old :D
Today they laid of 2000 (early retirement) which is supposed to equal nearly 400m $ in savings starting 2013 meaning they were making on average over three grand a week.

Old news. But of course sad for the people which are involved in that.

That isn't all wages tho, there a benefits (medical, retirement fund etc), and office space and equipment etc as well. Hell they are shutting down an entire 56,713 metre squared lens factory that alone probably accounts for a few million.
