Brother!
I hate when people say, "You should major in the STEM fields, it's the only field that will give you a good job/you won't be a barista." Not necessarily.
My question to that is this: Why study something you don't enjoy? Shouldn't higher education be about a subject you actually like studying? Statistics have proven a BS/BA degree earners have more income over a lifetime than just HS diplomas. Trade schools for things like automotive repair should be considered, too.
I think getting a job anyway is more about connections. Sure, your degree may help (and may be a requirement for some entry level jobs), but you need to be persistent and continually educate yourself in order to appear relevant on a resume.... among other things.
Do what you want! It's your life!
Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

On the topic of "Career hell" ... You are far more likely to enjoy your career if you actually choose it and work to achieve it than to fall into whatever job will hire you. There are many fields out there to choose from, but if you seek out the "most enjoyable college experience" you will likely spend the next 40 years doing a job that pays poorly and isn't enjoyable. |
Thanks but is there some sort of website out there that lists type of jobs, the qualifications you need for them and average pay. I honestly know little on types of jobs out there!
Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030
I am in college right now at the University of Tennessee majoring in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security.

Agreed. I've been writing software since I was 6. I always knew it was what I wanted to do. I'm very blessed that my job is my hobby and I have a crapload of fun (usually) doing it.
Do what makes you happy because you only get one life to live. It's just that if what makes you happy isn't going to bring in lots of money then you may need to make some compromises.
