Wii Sports was not a system seller. It was just the game that everyone got when they got the system. You are reversing the precedent.

Its like SEGA and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Not even Mario was a system seller like Wii sports was, don't underestimate the casual/simpleton crowd that fueled and bought all the Wii hype.

I think a lot of people saw the commercial, with players motioning at the TV, that made people say "I want to try that!" Nintendo wisely picked Wii Sports b/c it was interesting at the time to think you can hit a baseball, or bowling, golf etc by emulating real movement.  It really was the perfect platform to hook people in.  Look at the sequel - Wii sports resort sold 30 mil

I bet you do, but I certainly don't. I've never met anyone who expressed any desire to acquire Wii Sports and I know a lot of people with Wii's. Also, why would people buy a game that came with the system? What would they need 2 for?

Most of them expressed interesting in varying games like NSMB, Brawl, Mario Kart or Wii Fit.

Your probably referring to actual gamers. (aka the wrong crowd).

Ask the millions of casuals who bought a Wii for Wii Sports and didnt buy a single other Wii game afterwards.

Gamers are the only group I'm not talking about. I'm talking specifically about the tadiationl gamers that all of you choose to denounce as causals now. Mothers, fathers, teenagers, aunts buying birthday presents etc.

They would show desire to get different games, but Wii Sports was never one of them. Wii Sports was the throwaway game for the system. It was more or less a demo disc of things it could do.

Wii Sports was the gateway game. Usually they would get Wii Fit as well. But thats pretty much it.

Mothers/fathers/aunts/seniors are not "traditional" gamers.

kids, teens, and 18-28 demographics are "traditional". The above people just bought Wii for the pack-in, WiiFit too if they felt like it.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

"I'm emphasizing fun. Not necessarily the best graphics (which are nevertheless great) or most in-depth storylines. Just loads and loads of unadulterated diversion."

I already get games like that, so this doesn't really help make the WiiU a must have or show its unique games for me.

"You won't be able to hear them when you're squealing through the next round of Mario Chase."

I don't care for Mario games, so, I'll have to pass on the WiiU until i see more games that peek my interest like ZombiU.

Mario Chase isn't a Mario ames, its a "Mario themed" minigame.

Like I've said many times before. No matter what good new is said about the Wii U the only post you will see are people who wish the dismiss it. If its not negative new, no one is interested.

If I wanted a Mario themed mini-game, I would play one of the many Mario Partys. I just said I want to see something unique from the WiiU, and that i'm interested in ZombiU. The only thing I can see from you is writing off my whole post as negative and dismissing it. I'm not paying $300+ for multiplatform games I can get for way less.

So you are mainly interested in exclusive third party games?  Those are a pretty rare breed these days.  What Nintendo franchises do you like?  If one likes Nintendo it is usually because of their first party games.  Third parties are an after thought from the GCN era.  Only a few third party companies actually tried to produce decent quality titles on the Wii.

Wii U graphically inferior to PS360 confirmed, pre-order cancelled, Nintendo is doomed.

I would like Nintendo first party games but i'm not interested in Mario, Zelda, Metroid ect. anymore. After the GCN I was done with them. If they made another Super Mario RPG, I would be all over that. I guess i'm tired of the same thing over and over from them. Zelda: TP started off different, but then fell back into the same thing with Ganon, it's boring me. Thats why I liked SMRPG so much, it WASN'T Bowser as the last boss and it was very refreshing.

As far as the tablet goes, ZombiU is the only thing really showing me it can be fun. Rayman looks like a poor use of it, so does NSMBU. In those games I would be pretty bored with the tablet controller, and they also look like things that were planned for the Wii as they could easily be done with a Wiimote. I don't feel like i'll be missing out on anything really new, and if ZombiU does get ported more games will follow and i'll probably never get a WiiU at that point.

I'm just shimming in to share that my observations has been the exact same one as yours. Same people eventually got Wii-Fit and took Wii-Play to get an extra controller with added "casual party fun".

True that...  If you want a definition of a system seller then you only have to look to Wii Sports.  There is no game that can match it in selling systems.. Hell, even Tetris for GB; Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, World Class Track Meet for NES can't even compete.  Wii Sports is a system seller and is the best game to represent this.
