Limbo is less than 2 hours campaign and liked it.
That's how indie game are in XBLA and PSN.

Agreed. I can't comment on this game but in general I find indie games incredibly overrated simply because "oh it's indie, support the underdog!" So many are pretentious crap like Fez or Braid. |
not sure where that statement is comming from, I really really enjoyed Braid, what a fabulous experience - Limbo on the other hands felt a bit shallow, but still a good game

There might be only a handful of indie games that get good scores, but the issue is that the vast majority of those do not deserve their scores. |
Aren't you a Nintendo-platform-only gamer? That tells me you probably haven't played most of the ones you're talking about.

How many of you guys here in VGChartz hav actually played any of the indie games or Xbox Live Arcade games?
I dont want to turrn this into a Live vss PSN thread. I merely wondered why they are so short in comparison.
Ive got Indie games that are 8-10 hours long and cost me 90p for the full game.
The main Arcade section which Ive bought from ve not boght a game that has aken less than 6 hours.
And there are some hugely wierd and wonderful games on Live. Insanely twisted Sadow Planet was one of my most recent awesome ones I purchased.

Ha what a typical response from you. They are getting stale and boring at this stage, come up with something new. How is Xbox music threating you? XBLA has nothing like Flower, Journey or The unfinished swan. This is a day one purchase from me. Developers like ThatGameCompany and Giant Sparrow deserve my money. |
While I appreciate this is a PSN thread, using this game to bash XBLA is where I take issue.
Fez, Minecraft, Dust: An Elsian Tale and Spelunky come to mind. Not artsy but certainly creative and puzzle oriented.
many good and weird games are in the indie section and not in the arcade section of xbox live. too bad gaming sites almost never review these games even if they are much better as some arcade games just because they cost less as them.
what i want to say with this: xbox has also many unique games, just because some people don't know them doesn't mean they aren't there. i mean, yes many games of the indie section on live are crap but there are still what? 2500 of them? and some of them are really not crap. and arcade also has some unique games.

Nice word, effectively taking away Fez and Minecraft, two very unique games that arent on PS3. Nice.
Now are we talking 2012 games or are we talking generation? Because you do not want to say the 2nd option if you wanna make your point....
Has anyone read a book and said "200 pages? This is not nearly the deal as that 800 page book I bought!"?
I understand we all have preference, but to state length is the sole indicator of purchasing something seems bit odd to me. Maybe because I grew up when games routinely could be beaten in few hours (assuming you don't die over and over) that a really great 2-3 hours (Contra is a great example) sounds fine to me. Rather that than add chaff just to pad the experience.
I will likely get The Unfinished Swan as it appeals to me.

yeah that's true, in the past short was normal^^ and as example an xbox arcade game like spelunky which was released few months ago takes maybe few minutes or so if you wouldn't die. the fun comes from the experience you have to beat that shit^^ (or games like geometry wars or pacman haha)
