Forums - Nintendo - Activision Says Wii U Version Of Black Ops 2 Not Natively 1080P

It was pretty well expected that what Activision was saying before was mere marketing speak.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I already knew that.

Reggie loves to say "Wii U can do 1080p". Guess what? So can the PS3 and Xbox 360. Now, when your system can run a game like Battlefield 3 at 60FPS native 1080p.....that, my friends is FULL HD.

Activision never said the game ran at native 1080p. That was the Nintendo fansites spinning it to get hits.

Ouch, I really though WiiU could pull it off.

Who said it can't? With the proper optimization, it shouldn't be that hard.

Too bad that the Wii U won't receive anything more than a port.
Maybe if Black Ops 2 sell really well they'll take advantage of its supposedly next-gen capabilities.

I'm sure the Wii U could pull it off, but Activision won't invest the time to optimize the game to achieve it, when they can simply throw it at 720p and it will run great without any work.

I fully expect next year's version to run in native 1080p since the devs will have time to properly optimize it. :)

I always knew having 1080p was just a rumor (saying full HD doesn't automatically means 1080p), but either way I don't think this will affect to many people, including me.

Nintendo and PC gamer

Is GotGame a trusted site for these kinds of things? If not, this could very well be fabricated in that the e-mail doesn't reveal in any way that it's real. It could also be done to protect Bianca Blair, though. However, I need confirmation on whether or not I can trust this.

Not saying that Black Ops 2 will be native 1080p 60fps, but this at the moment doesn't confirm anything to me.

I expected it to be able to do 1080p easily, but then again it has to broadcast to a second screen but still you would think 1080p+480p would be very doable for a game like Call of Duty on brand new hardware.

We don't even know if it will run at 720p yet :P

I'm no CoD player, but I've heard they typically run in sub-HD and I don't expect Activision to put in the extra effort on Wii U.
