Biggest favorite for GOTY 2013 by far.
Release in April, exactly five years after GTA IV. Could get nearly 20 million lifetime sales.

Easily more. 20m in 2013 alone. |
You serious? GTA IV still hasn't reached 20 million on PS360 despite getting lots of steady sales for years and years, which GTA V won't have the benefit of since it's coming out very late in a generation.
Are you counting on Wii U sales?

GTAIV had shipped 22m last year and we'll see a large jump this time around since this is the kind of game that sells better and better as the console base it's selling to gets bigger. No, I'm counting on PS3,360,PC sales. |
Interesting. Yeah, I agree that it's that type of game that certainly benefits from a large install base. Let's see, what kind of attach rate would that demand, to reach 20 mill in 2013 on PS360... not that it matters much but it's always a funny stat. PS360 installed base will be around 165 million by end of 2013, so 20 million copies sold by then would give us a 12% attach ratio.
Saw this posted over on Gaf
From GTA Forums, a little rundown of what we got for IV from GI:
Quote:
Some a few things we can notice from the IV cover that can be taken into account.
The magazine shows early artwork for the game that show
important characters in the storyline
There are several in-game shots
The shots appear to be slightly embelished. Lighing affects are maxed out and textures and draw distances look amazing. The final product seemed a bit throttled back So expect that what we see from V will be a sexier depiction of an already sexy game for consoles at least
The intervew was with Dan Hauser
A summary of the plot
There is a bit of rhetoric, so not 10 pages of constant info
They directly compare the map and size to SA, but not in exact proportions. They describe the map in comparisn to real life new york.
They talk about pedestrian improvements
They dont play and actual miss rather than just watch the game move describing the visual feel of the game thoroughly
Physic imporvements are discussed
Camera angles are described
Car handling is described
Cell phone is described
Mission structured is briefly talked about
Voice acting and soundtrack is briefly discussed
They talk about the developers working on IV
Platforms are announced
DLC is discussed
Multiplayer is quickly talked about
Length of development is discussed
So Im expecting the GTA V issue of GI to have at least if not more than 10 pages. There will be alot to cover since we know nothing about the game. Hopefully there is less ambiguoty this time around.

As a comparison, Call of Duty does that easily every year. |
Yes, yes. COD has incredible attach rates. For example back in mid 2010 when MW2 had been out for 7 months and already sold 19 million, the total install base of PS360 was 77 million, giving it a whopping 25% attach rate!
Great. Thanks for the info Nsanity. Do they sell GameInformer in England?
Meh... Not interested, I do however wanna see it come out on WiiU - mostly 'cause Nintendo needs it.

Then why aren't you interested? |
Never really liked GTA... I thought GTA2 was good fun though ^^ GTA and COD is kind of the same to me: over hyped. But then again, perhaps I should play a bit more and see what it's all about ;)

I'm not too fond of sandbox games tbh... I like to have objectives to stride for
