I am personally glad to see a strategy game like XCom is getting a marketing push. I hope it does well. I am not a big fan of tactical strategy though, but I do like strategy and hope it sells millions making for more strategy games to show up.

I bought it!
Looks fantastic and honors one of the most iconic games from my childhood. Hope it sells

I'm a retro admirer of PC.
I only buy games (or sequels) from my childhood though... like Diablo 3 or this new X-Com. I don't like modern western games too much.
I have 40+ games on GOG.com , one of my favorite sites. Speaking of Gog, Divine Divinity is one dollar there... will never play, but it looks good on my virtual shelf
| spurgeonryan said: You ever play any games for PC by developer Infogames? |
If you're talking Infogrames (the armadillo company) yeah, a lot I think... like alone in the dark or asterix... many others, but I don't recall which ones, just remember seeing their logo a lot
I'm not. The more people who play it, the more soldiers will die in totally unfair ways like all of mine are.
Think of the soldiers!!!
| Crono141 said: I played my first real abduction after the tutorial (which lasted WAY too long), and managed to get all my soldiers killed. Need more soldiers per squad. In original X-com, I always had a squad of 8. 4 is just not enough. |
That was a concern for me when I was reading the previews, but the game feels nicely balanced for the smaller squad size. And you can upgrade to 5 or 6 pretty quickly, at least if you're lucky enough to have one tough bastard who just won't die and ranks up a lot like my own Eduardo "Kingpin" Marquez, Argentinian badass extraordinaire.
I have noticed promotions come a lot quicker in this than in the original. I know I used to be stuck with rookies for 2 or 3 missions before anyone would get promoted.
Thinking of starting a new game without tutorial. I like a little more freedom from the getgo.

I bought the game and I still have to wait half a day for it to unlock. Daaaaaaaaamn.
Jagged Alliance 2/Fallout 1 and 2 were my favourite games. I hope this will rank up there too.
Good to see that classic franchises get picked up again. Maybe my dream of a Commandos reboot will come true after all.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.
