What matters are the games themselves, not if there are other bigger or smaller exclusives coming out. PSABR is a new IP and LBP: Karting is a spin-off, as is Forza Horizon, which is why none of them are seeing great pre-orders. Don't forget that 360 has a lead of several million units in America

Based on that logic The Last of Us will bomb hard. Im sure if they were higher youd tell me that gamers took notice and are hyped. Basically.....theres always an excuse you or me could formulate based on any given information.

But it astounds me that given how PS3 is praised for its exclusives above all else, its 2 leading titles this holiday are tracking individually behind a Forza spinoff. I dont even need to refer to Halo 4 to make my point.

Its just confusing data no matter how you slice it.

psabr isn't tracking behind forza. if you look at the same time before launch which is 7 weeks for psabr now, forza has lower preorder numbers as psabr

forza: 28,805

just saying, i don't care about the rest

VGChartz preorder data is all over the place, so i have no idea why people are using it as an accurate source.

Seems odd is all. This year is the home stretch, the last hurrah. WiiU is coming out and 360 is gonna release Halo 4, the last big 360 exclusive. Sony is doing their home stretch in 2013 for PS3, when WiiU is gaining momentum and MS is stealing hype for their upcoming console.I dunno.....just poor resource management IMO.

It's not odd... As pezus pointed out they're tied up on Vita and PS4. I would not call that bad manageament - the PS3 is going very strong and has a great third party line-up, so why not get as many titles on the Vita, a console that desperately needs to pick up steam, and why not get some massive IPs like Uncharted and GT on PS4 within a year (GT probably not in a year, but Uncharted definitely) of it's release.

They were probably banking on all stars being a bigger success, but they definitely weren't depending on it, they would do absolutely fine without it or karting or whatever else. Sly 4 was supposed to be this year, TLOU was as well, though not announced, but you agree about that I know. They were counting on those as well so it's not like the holiday is an afterthought to them, but again, it's not needed, so it's not an issue if ND and Sanzaru want some more time.

You seem to be implying that because ps3 fans praise some exclusives, then that means they praise all exclusives. Even worse, you're suggesting that praise translates well to real-world success. That's simply flawed thinking. Nothing is confusing about the data. Yes, ps3 fans like some of the ps3 exclusives (that's probably automatic for fans of any console). Yes, the PS3 has a seemingly weak holiday this year. Where's the confusion?

Im not implying, I guarantee you that all exclusives get praise.Im suggesting they they "want" their praise to translate into real world success, stemming from a near universal belief both on and off the internet that Sony has more diversity in their IPs. You dont have to tell me that their thinking is flawed....I have always been a believer that internet hype should match the real world.

Its confusing because its the holidays, the biggest shopping season of the year. These numbers look like they are being released in APRIL.Its confusing that Sony even "seemingly" has a weak holiday lineup. Dont they have all these developement studios at their disposal? Where was the hindsight and resource management? What big shot at Sony decided that the 2012 holidays would only have a untested IP and a spinoff as the biggest and ONLY exclusives to distinguish the competition?

Something doesnt add up, both at management and at the gamer level. I think The Last of Us was meant to the the "Big Gun" this year, but luckily no dates were official and it was easily declared as a 2013 game. But thats another thread all together.

1. Some are working on Vita games.

2. Some are working on games for 2013 (ND, Santa Monica, Quantic Dream)

3. Some are working on PS4 games

The PS3 should have a decent enough ending with the Slim and numerous 2013 exclusives. Sony is getting ready for the PS4 launch, which is a good plan.
