Back on PS2, there were three mainline FF teams:

1. Yoshinori Kitase: FFX
2. Hiromichi Tanaka: FFXI
3. Yasumi Matsuno: FFXII

For the PS3, is this still the case? I know only of two mainline teams so far:

1. Yoshinori Kitase: FFXIII
2. Naoki Yoshida: FFXIV

Is there still a third team making FFXV? Sure, Matsuno is gone, but is his development team still together?

From my understanding, FFXV has been in development for some time now suggesting a separate dev team. Not sure how true this is as I can't find my original source, but I'll have another look.

As far as I'm aware, there has been no info on if FFXV is in development or not.

FF Versus XIII is not a mainline FF game. Just like Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII wasn't a mainline FF game.

I would love for that to be true. At least it would confirm that somebody is responsible for the third team and they still exist as a unit.
