My observation of the charts would be that there are many PS3 owners who play nothing but CoD or FIFA; the new 12G PS3 recognizes this market segment and is aimed squarely at it.

There's moreof these on Xbox 360 though, hence the 4gig Xbox 360 that's been available for years.

The 12gig PS3 isn't even going to be released in America or Japan.

There is no option to disagree against your theory in the thread's poll. The OP uses his opinion as fact and does not allow anyone the option to vote against him.

I will provide further options as i see fit. When someone provides a valid couterargument, I will put it in the poll. But to my knowledge, no such argument exists, so there's no point in putting it in the title.

Of course. That makes total sense. Good job with your perfect and unquestionable theory. Nobody beats your kung fu. Lets just go ahead and call it fact instead of theory. Maybe you should write a book.

Alright, let's play your little game.

How about this: Playstation users divide their purchases between blue ray entertainment and video games while Xbox users tend to be more dedicated gamers, as indicated by the fact that they are actually willing to pay for some of their online features. In other words: Xbox users are willing to spend more money on gaming entertainment, while Playstation users tend to spare some of that money (which would have been spent on more software or online features) for blue ray entertainment.

I didn't read through all posts, but surely this has already been pointed out? In ny case though; how is this not a valid argument?

That could be true, but it doesn't mean my theory isn't also true.

I would also observe that FIFA is very popular in Europe, the 12G territory. Also note that FIFA12 is #6 in the PS3 totals, whereas it's at #25 for the xbox.

The 360 has several streaming services which are apparently quite popular, so adding blu-ray to the equation probably just muddies the observation that x360 owners buy more games than PS3 owners.

Ok to stop trolling, looking at the charts for both platforms shows them to be pretty much parity for the top 25, with nothing under 4mill in that slice. The extended chart shows the 360 having nothing under 1mill sales until after #152, the PS3 #147 the same.

So the reality is the PS3/x360 are the same target audience, a fair split of the prior PS2 audience. The attach rate on the PS3 has been growing as the console sales catch up to the 360, which has always had a strong attach rate.
