fifa is a very good game and hundreds of millions of people on this planet love and live for football. in many european countries, football is the topic of every second discussion, people are members of football clubs, meet each other to plan the next trip to a game and such things. the passion for football in many countries is much bigger as the passion for any sports, as example the passion of us-americans for their sports in usa. no clue where you come from but if you are from a european country like uk/germany/spain you should know that.
and i think it makes sense that fifa is selling better and better, fans don't care if there are many changes, it's a new season with new players in the teams and with that you buy a new game and don't play the last season anymore, it's simple as that. and you also buy a new jersey/scarf and stuff like that.
the reason why it is still increasing so much in sales is because they advertise it more and more every year and i think because more and more football fans own a hd console. i think many football fans who buy a console not for many games except fifa and few more are those who buy the consoles now and not who bought the console after release.
and if you have some friends who also love football which is not very hard in those countries, there is not much better for console than playing some rounds of fifa against each other. if it is online or offline with friends. it's perfect to play some rounds fifa before and after you watch a real game on tv with those friends.
I rarely comment on merits of games and I personally love soccer (what brazillian doesn't?)... but I find this tragic.
This Fifa and Madden monopoly is simply sickening to me. The sports genre is nearly dead, imo.

How is it dead if it's selling more and more? That doesn't make any sense |
Secondly how is FIFA a monopoly when There is PES, Mario Strikers...

The game, not genre, is selling more and more, killing everything else. The genre is almost dead.
Oh, well... I guess people really like their [slightly] better physics every year. To me it's tragic, really.

So they should buy the inferior games instead of the best one? Do the other games improve more each year or what? I see this as a positive actually. More and more people are realizing that Fifa is the best football game around. |
Yea a good thing that EA owns exclusive rights to the NFL thus shutting out any competition. Like how EA made a better basketball game than 2k thus they had to stop making it for a year or so? 2k was giving EA a hard time with the NFL so EA scored big by getting exclusive rights. Now they don't have to worry about pesky 2k stealing all their consumers.
selling that across 5 platforms is not that impressive tbh
but yeah, the casual hole left by Wiisports is now being filled by FIFA, kids these days.....

The people who played Wii Sports generally aren't the people who play FIFA, they're more likely to be the people who play COD.
At least in my experience.
